The time has come! I've retired! π
When John W. Miller was a child, his mother would drag him to the local department store in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, which had a frame shop. πΌ
Miller remembers being intrigued by the process of selecting a frame and negotiating various options for whatever his mother wanted encased. After retiring from communications positions and having numerous objects framed throughout his life, Miller opened his frame shop in Mashpee in 1999.
βI knew myself pretty well,β Miller said. βI like dealing with people and doing stuff with my hands. I am not an artist, but I have a pretty good eye for art and design, color and balance, all the subjective things that go into making suggestions to myself or customers.β
After owning and running J Miller Pictureframer & Gallery for almost three decades, Miller has now retired from the art of framing. He is passing the torch to Andy Nabreski, who has a background in fine art, illustration and printing, and will support Nabreski in the ownership transition through the end of the month. After that, Nabreski will operate and maintain the framing business as its new owner.
Miller said he plans to spend more time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and βbetter halfβ Sharon Parkins as a retiree. He also wants to invest time in local government, as he serves as the current Mashpee Town Moderator, complete some business development consulting and travel.
βI have no plans whatsoever to leave the Cape or to leave Mashpee or to have a snowbird retreat in Florida,β Miller said. βI am here, and I look forward to the opportunity to do more things with my family, and maybe, something that would be a new challenge.β
