March is here in full swing. The class of 2027 should be actively working on college and or career decisions. College resumes, college lists, teacher recommendations, the common application, and Naviance should be words you are familiar with at this point.

It is a great idea to get a jump start, so that when you walk into your senior year of high school you are 95% done with your applications.

Class of 2026. Good luck with your decisions. Exciting times. You have until May 1 to decide.
Consider attending an “accepted students day” if you are unsure of your decision.

PUT THIS ON YOUR CALENDAR!!!!!!
Spring College Fair - April 30, 2026. Westhampton Beach High School. 5 pm - 7 pm. I would recommend this College Fair that it set up by the East End Counselor's Association. Many colleges attend. It is a great opportunity for students to introduce them to admissions counselors and to find out information about various colleges. (Perhaps to even grab some free fee waivers to apply)🧐

Now would be a good time to send a handwritten thank you to those teachers that took the time to write you a letter of recommendation, and perhaps even your guidance counselor. Also mention that you will tell them where you will be going to college after May 1. 🙏👍🥰

My clients (class of 2026) are receiving amazing college acceptances, along with great merit aid. Being organized is the key. We had college resumes done in February of their Junior year, followed by the common application, teacher recommendations requested and so much more. Applying Early Action is the way to go. We are about one week out for FREE SUNY & CUNY application time. 10/20/25. Use this free application opportunity to send in your applications. Pay close attention to due dates. November 1 is a big due date for Early Action. If the college wants your SAT scores, you need to either self report on Common App or send scores from College Board. Research which the college would like. Nov 1 for many schools, means they want everything in by Nov 1. Teacher letters, transcripts and SAT scores. I would hit send by October 15 and tell guidance you applied. Also note, many private schools require the STARS report now. All grades and course titles from your transcript grades 9-12.

FAFSA & TAP are open. Check out which schools require the CSS profile.

More FREE Tips for students leaving for college this month

1) if you currently have your own health insurance, make sure you show that to your college so they remove a health insurance fee off your bill

2) if you’ve taken any classes for college credit send a transcript to the college you’ll be attending and you may get out of taking a class that cost over $5000

3) if you have AP scores three or over, I would send them through College board to the college you’ll be attending, again this could bump you out of having to take a course.

Have a wonderful first year of college, study hard and be safe
