Two cars, one driveway, and everybody parking in the yard.

That's how this one started. Homeowner in Mattoon didn't need a whole new drive so much as she needed somewhere to put things — so we stripped the sod, dug the ground out where the parking was going to sit, and hauled in 15 ton of CA-6 to build it back up.

Rock is the easy part. Getting the dirt underneath it right is what decides whether you've got a parking pad in three years or a set of ruts full of water. Strip the sod, cut it to grade, slope it so the rain leaves instead of sitting — then the stone goes on and stays put.

Whole thing was done in a day.
