Enjoying this rainy warm and calm morning at Lee Gardner Precision
Perfect morning to test out the new rifle and cartridge combo. One of my latest builds. I call it the Lil Skeeter. I got this nickname many many years ago amongst my rifle shooting friends. I have no idea as to why! Perhaps because I like to shoot s***t but I can’t be sure?
Anyway I started the morning blowing out 10 newly formed cases. These little cases that I call Lil Skeeter can be a bit of a pain to make. I’m pushing back 220 Russian .110 or to a snug fit in the chamber. I do this with a cut off 22-250 FL size die. I guess it’s not that bad. I then neck turn the brass to allow clearance in the chamber. About .0035
Hornady made my dies and I built the rifle.
My results this morning couldn’t be any more pleasing. I loaded 25gr N133 on the unfired brass and 26gr on the once fired. I used a 52gr 22cal Berger FB bullet. Velocity with the 26gr is 3519fps. Accuracy looks extremely promising
More to come when I have the time. Lots to do in the shop today so I better get to it. The group on the left is 7 shots while blowing out the brass. The group on the right is a 4 shot group from once fired brass. It will take at least one more firing to fully form the case. I will then anneal the brass.
