Track your missed calls for the last 7 days.

How to do it:
- Check your phone's missed call log
- Check your Google Business Profile call history (GBP > Call History)
- If you use a business phone system, check the call report
- Write down the total number

Then estimate: what's your average job value? Multiply missed calls by that number. Multiply by 0.6 (roughly the percentage that won't call back).

That's your approximate weekly revenue leak from missed calls alone.

Most business owners I talk to have never done this math. They know they miss calls. They don't know what it costs them.

Here's a number most service business owners don't track: their after-hours lead rate.

On average, 40% of calls to local service businesses come in outside of 8 AM to 6 PM.

That includes evenings, lunch hours, and Saturdays, when the owner is handling something else and the office is dark.

Those callers are often the most motivated. Someone calling about a burst pipe at 8 PM is not doing casual research. They need help. They're going to hire whoever calls them back first.

If your system for after-hours calls is "voicemail and we'll get to it in the morning," you are losing roughly 2 out of every 5 inbound leads before business hours even begin.

I track my own clients' lead data. The pattern is consistent: the businesses that stop losing after-hours leads see a first-month revenue bump that more than covers the cost of the system.
