Last week we brought together regional leaders, employers, educators, economic development professionals, and community partners for the State of the Regional Workforce Conference!

Through discussions on regional economic growth, emerging technologies like AI, and evolving employer needs, participants explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration, align workforce development with industry demands, and prepare our region’s talent pipeline for the future.

We were proud to co-host the State of the Workforce Conference, bringing together workforce leaders and partners to discuss the future of our region! 🚢🤝

As part of the conference, our board members participated in a guided tour of the Port of Brownsville to experience firsthand the impact of major regional projects and the workforce opportunities they help create. This experience reinforced the importance of continued collaboration between Workforce Solutions Cameron and Workforce Solutions Lower Rio to drive economic growth, strengthen our workforce, and build a brighter future for the entire Rio Grande Valley!

Earlier this month, WFS CEO Francisco Almaraz attended the RGV LEAD - Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic Development Student Leadership Workshop, joining an initiative dedicated to helping students prepare for their futures and connecting education with workforce opportunities.

With more than 350 students registered from 13 different school districts, this milestone reflects the meaningful work RGV LEAD is doing to support our schools through workforce development, career alignment, and student leadership.

This morning, we had the privilege of hosting our SEAL Employer Recognition Breakfast, celebrating the incredible employers who helped make the Summer Earn & Learn (SEAL) Program a success! 👏

Through SEAL, students with disabilities have the opportunity to spend approximately 8 weeks working as interns, gaining valuable real-world work experience, developing workplace skills, building confidence, and discovering their potential.

But these opportunities wouldn’t be possible without employers willing to open their doors and invest in the next generation of talent. 💙

To all of our participating employers, thank you for believing in these students, providing meaningful experiences, and helping them build skills that can support their long-term success. Your partnership makes a difference!
