🚒 LIVE FIRE TRAINING 🚒

Next Saturday, June 20th, McCleary Fire Department will be conducting live fire training at a residence on the corner of S Main St. and W Hemlock St.

You will notice smoke, flames, fire engines, and firefighters working in the area throughout the day. This is a planned training exercise designed to give our volunteers valuable experience in a controlled environment.

We ask that community members avoid the immediate area and give crews plenty of room to work.

☀️ HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT ☀️

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for our are from 11:00 AM Sunday through 5:00 AM Tuesday.

🌡️ Temperatures are expected to reach 90–100°F. The hottest conditions are expected Monday afternoon and Monday night.

🔥 Hot weather can quickly lead to heat-related illnesses, especially for older adults, young children, people with medical conditions, outdoor workers, and those without access to cooling.

Stay safe by:
💧 Drinking plenty of water
🏠 Spending time in air-conditioned buildings when possible
☂️ Taking frequent breaks in the shade if working outdoors
👕 Wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Checking on family, friends, and neighbors
🐾 Keeping pets cool and hydrated
🚗 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a short time.

This week we're recognizing Cory Marsh for his dedication to serving our community. Whether he's working for the City of McCleary Public Works Department, coaching wrestling, or responding to calls with the Fire Department, Cory is always willing to lend a hand.

❤️ Why I Volunteer: Giving back to the community and being there for my community when they need it most.
⭐ Favorite Part of the Job: Building connections with the people we serve and making a positive impact in our community.

Yesterday at approximately 8:55 AM, the McCleary Fire Department was dispatched to a pickup truck fire at the westbound on-ramp of State Route 8 and Mox Chehalis Road.

Volunteer firefighters arrived on scene to find a fire in the engine compartment of the vehicle. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading further.

We would also like to thank McCleary Light and Power, who happened to be in the area and assisted prior to the arrival of the fire department by using their fire extinguishers to help contain the fire.

Thank you to everyone involved for the quick response and teamwork, including State Patrol and Dispatch.

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day weekend, the McCleary Fire Department remembers and honors the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

As we spend time with family and friends this weekend, we encourage everyone to stay safe, travel carefully, and take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day.

The McCleary Fire Department is looking for dedicated community members to join our team as volunteer Firefighter/EMTs. Whether you’re looking to learn new skills, serve your neighbors, or challenge yourself in a meaningful way, we’d love to talk with you.

‼️NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED‼️

From helping neighbors on their worst days to supporting community events throughout the year, volunteering with the fire department means being part of something that truly matters and serving the community you call home.

This training tool will help our firefighters practice forcible entry techniques in a safe and controlled environment, allowing us to sharpen important skills that can make a difference during emergencies.
