Admentus Taking the Complexity Out of Growing a Profitable, Scalable, and Ultimately Saleable Business Many entrepreneurs do not have a background in business.

They build products or delivery amazing services. When it comes to business strategy though, they tend to wing it which works early on, but as the complexities of the business start to build, the foundation starts to crack. However, an entrepreneur does not need an MBA to be able to run a successful, thriving, growing business. They simply need a designed system (vs. an system that defines itself)

that guides and systematizes their business to ensure that it can grow and scale successfully. The challenge today however is information overload – there are dozens of great systems designed by serious gurus. So, which is the right one for you? A NEW APPROACH ...

What if there was a different path? Instead of choosing the latest hot system and forcing your business into the box, you chose a guide that is focused on your growth and not a system. Your guide is somebody that has been there before, knows the path up the mountain, and can help you take the best parts of all of the systems out there to build your system! Building a business is not an easy journey, but the view at the top of the mountain is incredible! IS THIS FAMILIAR?

When you go on a vacation (assuming you can remember the last one), are you the type that plans every last minute, or are you the type that just goes without a plan, and what happens happens?

Thomas Edison had a great quote that went like this … “Vision without ex*****on is just a hallucination.”

For the last several weeks, we have been talking about strategy, and we absolutely believe that you must have a strategic plan even as a small business.

At the same time, if you cannot execute that strategy, then it is not worth the paper (real or digital) that it is written on.

In today’s episode of the Building to Scale podcast, Jeff Chastain breaks down the four stages of ex*****on planning that he works with clients to build once they have their strategy laid out.

Stealing a line from Goldilocks, it is not too hot and not too cold … or in this case, it has just the “right” level of detail to ensure that you and your team know what is ahead, yet not so rigid that you cannot adapt and evaluate new opportunities.

Let’s talk about small business ex*****on planning for a few minutes. Then, if you have questions after listening to today’s episode, we invite you to join us in the Building to Scale community today.

Did you catch this week's episode with Rachel Jenks of The Brand Boss Studio?

Imagine if everybody in your business had as much passion about your mission as Rachel does in today's episode?

What would that look like to you and your team? How would it look to your customers?

This is the power of having a defined culture - one that you define (instead of letting it define itself) and one that you "boss."

Don't miss this powerful message!

If I were to ask what your company "brand" was, what do you think I am referring to?

Your logo? Your color scheme?

That would have been my first thought as well, and while these are aspects of your brand, my guest on next week's episode of the Building to Scale Podcast believes it should go much deeper.

After having this conversation, I would have to agree.

Have you subscribed to the podcast? If not, do it now and check out Rachel Jenks of The Brand Boss Studio on next Monday's release.

Does Your Business Have a Purpose? Does it Even Matter?

For a small business owner (or really a business owner of any size), cash is king. So, when you are working the front line as well, taking time away from that to develop a strategy is rarely on the top of your list.

However, what if I told you that a little bit of strategic planning could have a significant impact on the effectiveness of your current marketing, sales, and customer support efforts?

Would you be willing to listen and spend a few minutes this week with that “owner” hat on?

In today’s episode of the Building to Scale podcast, I dig into two aspects of your strategy that you should invest some thought into this week. Specifically, the question of “who” and “why.”

Let’s talk small business strategy for a few minutes, and then, if you have questions after listening to today’s episode, I invite you to join us in the Building to Scale community today.

Did you catch the first episode of season 2 that dropped yesterday?

"To put a computer on every desk in every home in America ..."

Do you know who said that? That was Microsoft's "Pinnacle" goal back in their early days.

This week's episode breaks down what makes a good Pinnacle goal and why your small business needs one.

In addition, Jeff Chastain talks about several of the new resources that were released this week, along with the new podcast season, including our new small business owner community.

And that is a wrap ... 60 episodes and season one is in the books.

When it comes to business, one of the strategies that we deploy is having a long-term, big picture goal - the Pinnacle of the mountain - that you are aiming for.

Along the way, you have milestones where you stop, assess, and adjust as necessary.

For the Building to Scale brand, this is one of those milestones.

How do you define scaling when it comes to business? Is it simply more hours and more work? Or, do you have a strategic plan that is rooted in the eventual exit and your long-term legacy?

Axel Meierhoefer of Ideal Wealth Grower shares his own experiences in building both a business as well as an investment portfolio in this episode - specifically looking at what it takes to successfully scale without working 80 hours a week.

If you went into the doctor’s office and without asking any questions or looking at your history, the doctor set you up for open-heart surgery, would you do it?

As Chris Carr of Farotech breaks down in today's episode, this is the approach of too many businesses – we have the solution for whatever your problem might be. Instead, you should be building a system – a flywheel – that constantly increases the value your customers receive, turning them into raving fans that keep coming back.

While it may seem like common sense, many business leaders learn the lesson too late that it is okay to ask for help and that you should constantly (and early) be cultivating a network of experts around yourself.

By a show of hands, who has a plan to sell their business? That is not a question most small business owners think about - at least until some sort of catastrophic event happens or they decide they are ready to get out (tomorrow).

In this episode of the Building to Scale Podcast, Michelle Seiler Tucker talks about how you should treat your business as an asset, not your baby, and she shares some great insights when it comes to building a business that will sell.
