As seen in this report, fundraising is up across the board in 2020. This is what I have seen as well. Even donor recruitment is up during the Covid crisis — which is MUCH different than in prior economic disruptions.

Donors now have more time and are expressing more interest in almost all charitable causes, so the organizations that kept emailing and mailing in the Spring & Summer reaped a big windfall. This is obviously welcome news after email donations were down for the first time ever for America’s nonprofits in 2019.

Important trend lines even before Covid...

Giving was uneven last year, so some nonprofits — like those focused on education and the arts — had a big fundraising cushion before the pandemic hit. We show you how trends in 2019 point the way to what might happen by the end of 2020.

Sage advice ...

We've been hearing two big things from nonprofit professionals about the current crisis: I keep having to talk my board or senior management off a ledge I don't

I hope organizations working on international development learn from this example.

I hope organizations working on international development learn from this example.

Research suggests the most effective way to help poor people can be to give them no-strings-attached cash. Now a new study finds even neighbors who don't get the aid benefit.

I cringed when I saw this news segment on fundraising but it’s good news for once. Bravo to the fundraisers at ALS!

It’s been five years since Americans dumped cold water on their heads to raise $115 million for ALS. But what ever happened to all of that money? NBC’s Ron Mott reports.

Wow. 55% of fundraisers feel undervalued. I’ve heard it over and over again. People bringing in 80-90% of the revenue for their nonprofits feel like their other STAFF members “do not appreciate fundraising.” Don’t these other staff members realize they won’t have a job (or funding for their pet projects) if fundraising goals are not met!?

More than 80 percent of fundraisers are satisfied with many key aspects of their current job, yet half are likely to leave their position by 2021, according to a new survey by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and The Chronicle of Philanthropy conducted independently online by the H...

Congratulations Leigh on all of your hard work and many exciting achievements!!
Friends... Fonkoze is a wonderful way for Americans to make a HUGE difference in the lives of families struggling to get by on $1 or $2 a day. By helping women to buy a chicken or goat, these women can start a business to lift their families out of poverty and educate their kids. Leigh and her nonprofit have created a great micro lending success story.

But its success depends on the generosity of friends like you.

Please make a donation today and I will be happy to match your contribution*— in celebration of Leigh’s 25 years of service.

One final and especially memorable note ... I remember the day of the Haitian earthquake and we were very worried about Leigh and her coworkers. As was often the case, she was in Haiti helping the poorest people in the western hemisphere.

She was in a building that collapsed and had to jump, I think, from the second floor — when she hurt her back.

She was luckier than others to have survived. But we didn’t know how to reach her. And we worried about the future of this antipoverty organization.

Between the hurricane and the earthquake, it really rocked this organization. These people are living on very little and those tragedies took the little they had.

But Leigh and others rebuilt their phenomenal little organization and brought Americans down to show us how even a few dollars a day can transform the daily experience and future of these families.

We’re proud that Leigh continue to serve so selflessly in all of the years since. It’s an honor to celebrate her 25 years of service and reminder to all of us ... that it does not take much to really change people’s lives.

* Please support Fonkoze USA right now and Marie and I will match it up to $500.

Join us as we celebrate Fonkoze USA's Founder Leigh Carter & the incredible work she has done for the past 25 years to empower the economically poor throughout Haiti to lift their families out of poverty.
