This week's McMinnville MADE Mayor's Tour took us behind the scenes at Solid Form Fabrication, where creativity, craftsmanship, and collaboration come together to solve complex challenges through custom metal fabrication. Founded by two brothers with an entrepreneurial mindset in 2007, Solid Form has grown to 45 employees.

From architecturally striking staircases and railings to structural steel and specialty projects, the Solid Form team has built a reputation for delivering engineer-grade, vision-driven solutions while investing in continuous improvement and lasting partnerships. Their commitment to innovation extends beyond the shop floor through workforce development and creating rewarding careers in the skilled trades.

☕Launch Mid Valley Coffee Club is hitting the road this summer!

For July, August, and September, we’re taking Coffee Club out of the classroom and into the community — visiting local businesses, hearing founder stories firsthand, and connecting with the entrepreneurs shaping McMinnville.

Last week's McMinnville MADE Mayor's Tour took us behind the scenes at Amerson Precision Sheet Metal, where we've been fortunate to have a manufacturing leader calling McMinnville home since 1979.

From advanced laser cutting and robotic welding to serving the telecommunications, aerospace, and medical industries, Amerson demonstrates how local manufacturers compete on a global stage while staying deeply invested in our community.

What stood out most? Their commitment to people. With a team of 41 employees, Amerson is passionate about developing skilled trades through on-the-job training, apprenticeship opportunities, and partnerships that inspire the next generation of manufacturers—including support for McMinnville High School's Fabrication & Engineering pathways.

What does industrial symbiosis look like in action?

Yesterday, McMinnville was proud to welcome attendees of the inaugural PNW Industrial Symbiosis Conference, hosted by the Center for Sustainable Infrastructure, for a behind-the-scenes look at how local businesses are advancing innovation, sustainability, and the circular economy.

The day began at Mac Market with a welcome from Adam Garvin, McMinnville City Manager, Commissioner Kit Johnston, and MEDP, before attendees set out to experience industrial symbiosis in action.

The tour featured inspiring stops at New Energy Works West, Solid Carbon, Chapul Farms, and —four companies demonstrating how collaboration, renewable resources, and creative thinking can reduce waste, create new value, and strengthen more resilient local economies. From and to and reusable glass bottle systems, each stop showcased how rural communities are helping lead the future of the .

A special thank you to New Energy Works for sponsoring lunch and opening its doors, Chapul Farms for sharing its innovative approach to regenerative agriculture, and Revino for closing the afternoon with a wine tasting that highlighted another example of circular innovation in action.

This experience would not have been possible without the many partners who generously shared their time, expertise, and hospitality.
