🔬🚀 Innovation has been part of McMinnville's story for generations.

This week, community leaders joined our McMinnville MADE Mayor's VIP Tour at APT – Applied Physics Technologies (APT), a company that exemplifies the connection between scientific discovery, advanced manufacturing, and the entrepreneurial spirit that continues to shape our community.

Founded in 1995 from research conducted at the Linfield Research Institute, APT has spent more than 30 years growing and innovating in McMinnville. Today, the company is a global leader in the design and manufacture of electron sources and cathodes used in electron microscopes, x-ray systems, analytical instruments, and emerging metal additive manufacturing (3D printing) technologies.

APT's story is uniquely McMinnville. What began as groundbreaking research evolved into a world-class manufacturing company whose products support scientists, researchers, and innovators across the globe—all from right here in Oregon's Willamette Valley.

As the City of McMinnville celebrates 150 years and MEDP celebrates 20 years of supporting business and economic vitality, APT serves as a powerful reminder that innovation has deep roots in our community. The company's success reflects a legacy of curiosity, ingenuity, and investment in the future—qualities that continue to make McMinnville a place where ideas can grow into industries.

Thank you to the APT team for welcoming us into your facility and sharing the remarkable work happening behind the scenes. We are proud to have you as part of the McMinnville MADE community and grateful for your role in advancing McMinnville's tradition of innovation.

🌟 McMinnville Leader Honored with PNAA Rising Star Award

Congratulations to Lori Robertson of Cutting-Edge-Metals on being named the recipient of the Rising Star Award at the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance (PNAA) Women in Aerospace Annual Event!

This prestigious recognition celebrates emerging leaders who are making a meaningful impact on the aerospace industry through innovation, leadership, and dedication to advancing the sector. Lori's passion for aerospace manufacturing, workforce development, and industry collaboration makes her a deserving recipient of this honor.

As owner of Cutting Edge Metals, Lori has helped strengthen one of McMinnville's leading aerospace suppliers while contributing to the continued growth of Oregon's aerospace and advanced manufacturing industries. Her commitment to excellence, mentorship, and continuous improvement reflects the qualities that define the next generation of industry leaders.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Lori serves as a valued Board Member of the McMinnville Economic Development Partnership (MEDP), where she helps guide efforts to support business growth, workforce development, and economic vitality throughout the region. She has also been instrumental in helping bring PNAA events and industry engagement opportunities to McMinnville, connecting local businesses with aerospace leaders from across the Pacific Northwest and showcasing our community as a growing hub for aerospace innovation and manufacturing.

This year's Women in Aerospace event was a powerful reminder that growth happens when leaders are willing to share their experiences, support one another, and help create opportunities for those who follow. Lori embodies that spirit through her leadership, service, and commitment to strengthening both her industry and community.

Please join us in congratulating Lori on this well-earned recognition. We are proud to celebrate her achievements and grateful for the positive impact she continues to make in McMinnville and beyond.

🍫✨ A little bit W***y Wonka, a whole lot of innovation.

Congratulations to EMPWR USA on celebrating their Ribbon Cutting this past Friday! What started as a vision has become one of McMinnville's most exciting manufacturing success stories, with more than $150 million invested to date and plans for an additional $45 million expansion over the next two years.

While there may not be chocolate rivers or Oompa Loompas, a tour of EMPWR's state-of-the-art facility feels like a glimpse into the future of food manufacturing. From advanced production technology to thoughtfully designed employee spaces, EMPWR is creating an environment where innovation and people thrive together.

This milestone is also a testament to the power of partnership. Thank you to the many organizations that helped support and champion this project along the way, including Business Oregon, MEDP - McMinnville Economic Development Partnership (MEDP), the McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce, The City of McMinnville, SEDCOR, Miller Consulting Group, LLC County, and numerous local and state partners who continue to invest in the success of businesses and communities across Oregon.

Even sweeter? The company is continuing to grow and is actively hiring operators and technicians to join their expanding team.

We're proud to celebrate EMPWR's continued investment in McMinnville, the family-wage jobs being created, and the momentum they're bringing to our local economy.

🎉 Congratulations, EMPWR Nutrition, on this exciting milestone—and here's to the next chapter of growth!
