Club shares are rad. And we are part of one this month that our Social Club members—and the club members of our friends—don’t want to miss. For the rest of April, visit seven of “R” winery friends (all wineries start with the letter R 😎) Club members from each winery get benefits for visiting the following wineries:

And of course who coordinated this Club Share.

Social Club members: Pop in, grab a card, and get on your way on “The Route!”

We are so stoked about Springtime. What a perfect season for Gruner Veltliner! And we have TWO! Our 2024 “Off-Line” Sparkling Gruner is a fun, zippy treat to start the conversation on the patio. And our 2024 Gruner V. was recently named one of top three GV’s in the Willamette Valley by Frederick Koeppel of “Bigger Than Your Head” (along with my friends ). So we’re celebrating. Hop online and snag a Gruner 2-Pack!

And if you’re local, come hang with us for GrunerFest!!! Next Saturday, May 25th.

Here’s to Gruner!

Everyone romanticizes harvest. But the true wine curating process is at the end. I don’t see myself as a wine maker. I like to consider myself a wine curator. I let the wine be what it wants to be, super nuts. Grape the bottle. But it’s the time between harvest and bottling that is the most challenging. It’s the most dangerous time for a wine to go south. As someone who is a minimal intervention, or low intervention, or natural wine inclined wine maker, the wine still needs to be delectable. So I take it seriously. Because my name is on the bottle. As are the names of the vineyards I work with. And, my wine needs to represent all the people that helped me get here. It needs to be good. So, I go right up bottling, to ensure that I got it right. And the truth is, that I don’t really know. And any wine maker that tells you that they know what they have when they bottle it, is lying.

Here’s to hoping I got I right.

“As I tell everyone, all of the time: This wasn’t a plan. No business plan. No ambition. I just followed. Followed the brand, the wine, I guess. But more importantly, followed—with gratitudes—the support. And that brings a sense of ownership, and an obligation to keep going. It’s a surreal experience to be along for the very ride one has started.

I’m deeply grateful to and for the kind spotlight and nod. And especially grateful and humbled by those that nominated me. It’s a truly remarkable cast of especially talented folks to be associated with.

I’ve never been dubbed a “changemaker.” Perhaps because I just do as I do. We should all be looking for ways to change the status quo. Flip the script. Without strategy. Without ambition. Just…because.

This is validating. Beyond words. So I guess I’ll keep racking barrels, and taking videos of myself crying. 😉

I love you all, and am blessed to be where I am. Because I was ricocheting existentially for a long time. Now, I know who I am, and what I’m meant to do.

And that comes from without, not within. Imposter syndrome runs deep in this recovering East Coast Type-A guy. You all have opened my eyes. And now, I hope to return the favor to our neighbors in need, and to those that have said: “I believe in you.” Because in the end, everyone needs to know that, on both sides of any fence.

Cheers and Gratitude,
Erich

Even in our concrete jungle, in the industrial district of McMinnville, we get stunning views. Of forklifts, and concrete-mixing plants. But also, bluebird days. Oregon is such a special place. We are the sun-worshipping folk. And even in a metal pole barn, the birdsong is lit (we have sandpiper flock…because concrete requires a massive pile of sand 😆)

Come hang. It’s lovely out here. Doors up. Pinkies in.

Racking.
It’s a Zen-like vibe. Off the laptop. Focused on the wine. Putting it together before bottling it up. Seeing what it is, after time to find itself. Racking is a winemaker’s moment to see what they “made,” along for the ride. Because it’s only after all the barrels are racked to a tank, blended, that the winemaker knows what they have. We are along for the ride.
