Where do road signs go when they're finished directing traffic? 🚧♻️

Apparently, retirement looks a lot like Lincoln Recycling.

These signs may have reached the end of their service life, but the materials they're made from still have plenty of work left to do. Once processed, the aluminum and steel can be recovered and transformed into new products that continue serving communities in entirely new ways.

It's a great reminder that recycling isn't about endings, it's about new beginnings.

Even road signs get a second act. 💪♻️

At Lincoln Recycling, we take pride in maintaining our equipment, containers, and fleet because they represent more than our business, they represent the customers and communities we serve.

When one of our containers sits outside a local business, we believe it should be something they're proud to have there. When one of our trucks arrives at a customer's facility, it should reflect the same level of professionalism and care that we bring to every aspect of our work.

It's a small detail that speaks to a bigger philosophy:
If something is worth doing, it's worth doing right.

Ever heard of a skeleton plate? ♻️

Despite the name, it's not as spooky as it sounds.

A skeleton plate is the metal sheet that's left behind after shapes or parts are cut out during a manufacturing process. While the finished pieces move on to become products, the remaining metal still holds significant value.

Instead of being discarded, skeleton plates can be recycled and transformed into new materials that continue supporting manufacturing, construction, transportation, and more.

At Lincoln Recycling, we help ensure those valuable metals stay in circulation and continue working long after their first purpose has been fulfilled.

Because even the leftovers have a future. 💪♻️

Before Lincoln Recycling became the company it is today, there was a man with a truck, a strong work ethic, and a vision for the future.

In 1932, Barney Lincoln entered the recycling business with a single truck, servicing small industrial accounts throughout the Erie area. What began as one person's dedication to hard work and customer service would eventually grow into a company that has served our region for more than 90 years.

In 1967, Barney's son Howard returned to Erie and partnered with him to form Lincoln Metal Processing Company, laying the foundation for what would become Lincoln Recycling.

Today, we're proud to be a third-generation family business serving Northwestern Pennsylvania, but we never forget where it all started.

This portrait hangs in our office as a reminder that every truck we dispatch, every customer we serve, and every material we process is built upon the values Barney established nearly a century ago.

Some things change with time. Hard work, integrity, and commitment to your community never do.

Brake rotors may be worn out for the road, but they still have plenty of value left to offer. 🚗

Made primarily from cast iron, old brake rotors are a great example of a material that can be recovered, recycled, and transformed into something new.

Whether you're replacing brakes on your personal vehicle or cleaning out a garage full of old automotive parts, don't let those rotors end up taking up space. Bring them to Lincoln Recycling and help keep valuable metals in circulation.

In this quick video, we'll take a closer look at brake rotors and why they're worth recycling.

Because even after their last stop, the journey isn't over. 💪♻️

At Lincoln Recycling, every load has a purpose. ♻️

When recyclable metals are brought to our facilities, they don't just disappear — they're processed, recovered, and put back to work in new products, equipment, buildings, and infrastructure.

That's why recycling matters. It's not just about clearing out unwanted materials. It's about conserving resources, reducing waste, and helping create a stronger, more sustainable future for our communities.

The impact of recycling goes far beyond our yard — and we're proud to be part of that journey every day. 🌎💚

Did you know not all wire is the same?

At Lincoln Recycling, we carefully sort and process many different types of recyclable wire, from insulated copper to aluminum and more. Each type falls under a different category, which is why separating and processing them accurately is so important.

💡 Recycling tip for home & DIY projects:
If you’ve got old extension cords, appliance cords, or leftover wiring from a renovation, you can bring them in as is. Our team will handle the sorting for you, no need to strip them down first!
Just make sure your wires aren’t tangled with other materials, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Every load of wire you bring in helps keep valuable metals in circulation and reduces waste, supporting a cleaner, greener future for our community. 🌎
