💚 12 Years of Green Shoppe 💚
Twelve years ago today, September 3, 2014, we held the ribbon cutting for Green Shoppe and started this little adventure.
At the time, my goals were pretty simple: start small, sell a few things, hopefully make the rent and see where it might go. I certainly didn’t have a grand business plan or everything perfectly figured out. I just had an idea I believed in, many years of retail experience, a love for healthier and more sustainable living—and a community that encouraged me to get some “skin in the game” and give it a go.
And what a journey it has been!
Green Shoppe has grown, changed, moved (several time!) and evolved right alongside me and my family.
My three tiny humans grew up.
Products came and went. We created displays, hosted events, tried new ideas, made mistakes, started over and kept moving forward.
This past year has been an especially crazy one, personally and for the Shoppe.
Somewhere in the middle of all that change, I found myself coming back to the core of what Green Shoppe has always been about: sharing products and ideas that help us live a little healthier, greener and more thoughtfully while building a community we can enjoy and be proud to call home.
But when I think about these twelve years, I don’t only think about the products we sold or the places we’ve called home.
I think about the people.
I think about the friendships, conversations, memories, laughter and love that have filled the Shoppe over the years.
I think about every person who walked through our doors, attended an event, shared a post, told a friend, encouraged an idea or simply bought something from my little Shoppe.
You made this possible.
Thank you for believing in me, supporting my ideas and allowing Green Shoppe to become part of this community for twelve whole years. I will never be able to fully explain how much that has meant to me.
And although getting back to the simple things has made me embrace the Shoppe more than ever, I’m also beginning to dream about what it could become next.
There may be a few changes growing behind the scenes—a refreshed identity, new ways to shop and a bigger vision that brings everything I love about Green Shoppe together under one roof…even beyond our physical Shoppe. 🌱
It’s been slow and evolving, but I so hope you’ll continue coming along for the ride.
Twelve years later, I still believe in the possibilities for Green Shoppe, for downtown Meadville and for this beautiful community.
Onward & forward is all we can ever be. 💚
