Here’s the volunteer opportunity Chris Hill shared at yesterday’s MBA meeting!

As our Service Project Coordinator, Chris is always keeping an eye out for ways our members can get involved and give back in the community. This upcoming Sleep in Heavenly Peace build is a great one.

If you’d like to lend a hand and help make sure local kids have a bed to sleep in, check out the sign-up information in the post below.

Who’s in?

🛏️ MEBANE... WE NEED YOU! ❤️

On Saturday, September 12, we’re taking over the Lowe’s parking lot in Mebane for Bunks Across America, and we have a BIG goal:

40 beds. 40 local kids. At least 80 volunteers.

These beds will eventually go to children right here in our community who are currently sleeping without a bed of their own.

We’re inviting Lowe’s employees to come build with us, and bring your family and friends! This is absolutely something you can do together.

🔨 No experience is needed.
🧰 You do NOT have to operate power tools to participate.
❤️ There are jobs for different abilities and comfort levels.
🙌 Most importantly, you’ll be helping create something that will make a very real difference for a local child.

Lowe’s is generously helping make this build possible, and now we need the PEOPLE POWER to turn that lumber into 40 beautiful beds!

That was a FULL meeting.

We welcomed five first-time visitors, celebrated new members, heard from a local business sponsor, got put to work by our guest speaker, and packed the calendar with more ways to connect, learn, and serve.

In attendance today was two of our newest MBA members:
• InMotion Wellness Studio
• Savvy & Balanced

Our breakfast sponsor, Endgame Agents, was represented by husband-and-wife team Michael and Carol Komondy, who shared information about Medicare.

Then Phydesia Lewis from the Small Business Center at Alamance Community College took over the room with an interactive game about branding, sales, and marketing. We talked about how businesses show up, how customers see us, and just how many different ways there are to advertise, market, and promote what we do.

And that was only the preview.

Before that, we're getting to work in the community. On September 12, MBA members can volunteer to build beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace to help local children who don't have a bed of their own. Good with power tools? Great. Would rather stay far away from them? Also great. There are volunteer opportunities for everyone.

And mark your calendar for our next social:
October 15 at the NEW Fratelli Italian Kitchen.

There is a lot happening at the Mebane Business Association right now, and today's meeting was a pretty good snapshot of what membership looks like: connections, practical business education, community involvement, and plenty of opportunities to get in the room with other local business owners.

MBA members, we’ll see you tomorrow morning for our September Meeting

A quick reminder while we have your attention: membership dues are due by September 5. If you haven’t paid yet, you can skip the stamp and take care of your invoice online. Unpaid balances after September 5 will incur a late fee.

The email with your membership invoice also includes a link to update your business and contact information, so please take a minute to make sure we have everything correct for you.
