Restoring a Piece of America's History
As America celebrates its 250th Anniversary, we're looking back at one of the most meaningful projects in Electric Time Company's history.
Most visitors to Independence Hall admire the famous tower clock.
Far fewer realize there's another remarkable clock projecting from the building's west side—a clock whose history stretches back to the early years of our nation.
By the 20th century, the original projecting clock had disappeared.
During preparations for the 1976 Bicentennial, Electric Time Company was selected to recreate it using historic engravings, photographs, and architectural research.
We designed and built a new movement, recreated the historic hands, fabricated the mounting system, and returned this remarkable public timepiece to Independence Hall.
