A friendly reminder, the new wood burning stoves of today are more efficient than the ones of the past. They should not be used for burning "trash" or "garbage". And they certainly don't like wood with too much moisture! That could clog up your spark arrestor in as few as 3 days. We had a customer last week that was angry because the technicians would not clean the baby wipes and other garbage out of their Blaze King wood stove when we went to sweep their chimney. Our technicians have pipe brushes and vacuums to clean out all of the ash in your wood stoves. They are not equipped with dumpsters for garbage. If you are unsure about how much moisture is in your seasoned wood, I'm sure they sell inexpensive "moisture meters" at Coastal or maybe the Ace Hardware stores. It may be helpful if it seems as if your flues are clogging up quickly this winter.
