International Security Driver Association

International Security Driver Association ISDA serves the protective services community with an emphasis on secure transportation and security driving. We do not promise jobs.

ISDA’s mission is to provide and support an international forum of protective services
providers who share knowledge for the ultimate purpose of enhancing professional and business standards. Our members are security practitioners who supply protective services to corporate executives, high-net-worth individuals, military personnel, and law enforcement agents and officers. Who We Are Not
ISDA does not train or supply drivers, EP agents, or secure transportation services. Neither we nor anyone else has a silver bullet to help gain employment. It is up to each individual to prepare themselves. ISDA supplies the tools to accomplish that goal. What We Provide
Our association offers Basic and Certified memberships. Basic membership requires no pre-qualifications. ISDA certification requires the completion of a certification process. The process follows guidelines defined by credentialing organizations and standards that are recognized in all other industries. The certification has been recognized by the corporate community for 40 years. We provide unbiased information to members and offer a platform for them to share their knowledge and express their opinions. The ISDA Separation - The Constant Learner
We are in a time when there are more EP/bodyguards/security drivers in the marketplace than there is a market for their services. To differentiate himself, a professional must become a constant learner. A constant learner isn’t defined by a training curriculum. Instead, that person is marked by a perpetual curiosity, a demand to ask and understand, “Why am I doing this? Why is this significant?” They feel the need to acquire additional skills and to meet and exceed what is expected from them. The International Security Driver Association helps its members become constant learners by opening the door to their curiosity. We Seek Clarity
ISDA seeks clarity and transparency in the protective services profession. Social media have twisted the security driving and executive protection professions into marketing terms with no regard for their defining skill sets. ISDA Brings Clarity to the Market
With a proven 40-year track record, ISDA will leverage its professional experience and knowledge of social media to get that message of clarity to the market. ISDA founder Tony Scotti has thrived in the profession and created the most enviable client list in the industry without advertising. ISDA’s message will be heard via the most powerful marketing tool available - word-of-mouth.

The ISDA YouTube Executive Vehicles Playlist
The Executive Vehicles Playlist consists of 26 videos that examine the vehicles used in executive protection and secure transportation. For Security Drivers, the vehicle is more than a means of transportation—it is a critical tool that directly affects safety, performance, and mission success. Developing a thorough understanding of the vehicle's capabilities and limitations is an essential part of professional Security Driver training.

Topics include vehicle selection, design features, performance characteristics, and the technologies that influence vehicle operation in both routine and high-risk environments. The videos introduce a wide range of executive and armored vehicles commonly used in executive protection and secure transportation.

ICYMI - ADAS Features That Can Challenge Security Driving
The ADAS definition often includes terms such as "assists," "limits," "automatically controls," and "applies brakes." While these features are designed to enhance safety, they can also create security-related concerns in certain operational environments. For this reason, security drivers should understand how these systems function and how they may affect vehicle behavior.
This is particularly important when using rental vehicles. Drivers should familiarize themselves with the vehicle's ADAS features before operating it, which can usually be accomplished by reviewing the vehicle's safety systems and specifications online. A PDF.

Surveillance Detection PowerPoint
The following URL links to a U.S. State Department Surveillance Detection (SD) PowerPoint presentation. We at ISDA consider it a useful introductory overview of the subject and a good starting point for understanding the fundamentals of surveillance detection.
However, reviewing a presentation is not a substitute for attending a hands-on SD training program, particularly for those working in the corporate security environment or providing secure transportation services to corporate clients. Practical training is essential for developing the observation, analysis, and decision-making skills required in real-world situations.
For those seeking a more comprehensive resource, we highly recommend Joe Autera’s book, The Professional's Guide to Planning, Managing, and Providing Secure Transportation. Chapter 19 is dedicated to surveillance detection and provides valuable insights into the principles and application of SD within a secure transportation program.
A post about Joe’s book is in the comments section.

ICYMI - The Top 5 Vehicle Characteristics That Affect Safety and Security
All vehicles have inherent characteristics that, if not understood and monitored, can degrade performance and create a dangerous situation for the principal. There are numbers that represent these vehicle characteristics; most can be found in the owner’s manual. The Security Driver does not need to understand the science behind these numbers. Still, they need to know how these numbers and changes in these numbers affect the principal's and passengers’ safety and security.

All vehicles have inherent characteristics that, if not understood and monitored, can decrease a vehicle’s performance and create a dangerous scenario for th...
