Fix-It Loan Program Opens Next Application Window
Medford & Gilman, WI — September 28, 2026 — The Fix-It Committee is pleased to announce the next application window for the Fix-It Program, providing property and business owners in the communities of Medford and Gilman an opportunity to receive financial assistance for eligible improvement projects.

Applications for this funding period will be accepted through October 26, 2026.

Up to $10,000 Available Through 1:1 Matching Loans
During this application period, eligible applicants may apply for up to $10,000 in Fix-It Loan funding through a 1:1 matching program. Applicants are responsible for providing an equal match toward the total project cost.

For example, a project with $10,000 in eligible expenses could receive up to $5,000 in Fix-It Loan funding, with the applicant providing the remaining $5,000.

No grant funding will be available during this application period. All funding awarded during this round will be in the form of loans.

The Fix-It Program was created to encourage investment in our communities by helping property and business owners complete projects that improve the appearance, functionality, and overall vitality of Medford and Gilman.

Eligible projects may include building updates, exterior improvements, repairs, and other qualifying enhancements. Property and business owners are encouraged to learn more about the program and determine whether their proposed project may qualify.

Application Deadline: October 26, 2026
Completed applications must be submitted by October 26, 2026.

About the Fix-It Program
The Fix-It Program is a community-focused initiative designed to encourage investment and improvements in Medford and Gilman. Through a 1:1 matching loan program, the Fix-It Committee helps property and business owners make eligible improvements while encouraging private investment in our communities.

Up to $10,000 in Fix-It Loan funding is available during this application period. No grants will be awarded during this round.

Congratulations to our neighbors in Athens. Billie and Sue were able to tour the new apartments and town houses and were so impressed with everything. Our member S.C. Swiderski built an amazing community of rentals.

After our meeting this month, The Medford Area Development Foundation went to tour The houses being built by Mr. Doug Eichman's Tech Ed Class. We talked to Mr. Eichman and his students and were very impressed by this project. The collaboration between the City of Medford and the School District of Medford has been amazing. Great job!

Now accepting applications for the next round of grants/loans. All applications are due by Monday, March 30. Please email the Fix-it Grant at [email protected] for an application or if you have any questions.

The Fix-it Grant is for small businesses with less than 25 full time employees. All grants/loans are 1:1 match and are reimbursements. The applicant must be located within the City limits of Medford or the Village limits of Gilman to be eligible.

Projects must fit under one of the following headings:

A delegation of representatives from the Medford community, along with CEO Bob Foote of Weather Shield Manufacturing, recently met to discuss the acquisition of Weather Shield
by Pella Windows and Doors.

Sue Ackerman, Secretary/Treasurer of the Medford Area Development Foundation, shared her thoughts on the meeting, saying, "I enjoyed our meeting today and appreciated the
opportunity to learn more. I’m excited for the future of our community and Weather Shield’s/Pella’s part in it."

Adam Rodman, board member of The Chamber, also expressed optimism about the transition: “It’s exciting to think of the possibilities the addition of Pella will bring to Medford.”
During the meeting, Foote emphasized that Pella was pleased with the opportunity to acquire Weather Shield, citing its strong legacy in the premium segment of the window and door manufacturing industry. Pella’s goal is to build upon that history through the market opportunities presented by the combination of the two businesses. The company is currently hiring to expand its workforce here to meet growing production needs.

As a family-owned business, Pella is committed to supporting its employees and the communities they serve. Foote noted that Pella is eager to become an active and positive presence in Medford, exploring ways to contribute meaningfully to the community’s
continued growth.
