A great start to 2025 with a 1959 Martin D-28 and WW2 1945 Gibson L5. Neither of these guitars have been publicly for sale since they were new over half a century ago!

2 of my favorite Fender amps! The 2012-2013 Fender Vaporizer. Or the Fender V**e for short 🤣

Red one has warehouse speakers and an upgraded reverb pan with a modded gain control for the Vaporizer circuit.

Blue one has a Marshall 18 watt output transformer, 2 90’s eminence alnico blues from a tweed bassman, gain/master volume control for the vaporizer circuit.

Both have 50’s telefunkens from my personal stash, replaced NOS style grill cloth, and sound absolutely spectacular! The red one definitely sounds more like a 60’s Fender/Silvertone kind of thing while the blue one sounds more like a really good Bluesbreaker.

I host a jam night in Cleveland every week and these amps couldn’t be more perfect for that gig. Plenty loud enough to keep up with a drummer, but a drunken jammer can turn the amp all the way up and it’s only going to get so loud without pi***ng off people in the club lol.

Thanks to amp master John Leonard for making these amps perfect!

For the first time since it left the Gibson factory in 1961, this heavily modded one owner Gibson Ranger is being used as a guitar amp instead of an organ amp.

Rehoused in a similar era Vanguard 1x15 cabinet, this was used as an organ amp over the years for an older woman in Ohio before moving on to the next place.

There’s very few vintage guitars that I keep for myself for more than a few months, but this old January of 1960 Country Club has stayed around going on 4 years now and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

The string-through Bigsby is unoriginal but era correct, and there was a scotch-whiskey fueled headstock break sometime back in the 70’s, but it has all original electronics and is one of my all time favorite vintage guitars I’ve ever played regardless of make or model.

The original owner bought it from a music store in Mansfield, Ohio and played it in the same clubs my great grandparents and grandparents went to back in the 60’s, and 64 years later it still resides in the middle of Ohio.

One thing we love doing outside of buying/selling vintage gear, is designing custom builds with the amazing Attila Custom Guitars and Colby Amps!

Our modernist take on the classic Gretsch 6120 Cowboy guitar and amp set, this cocobolo and maple semi-hollow guitar with Robot Graves Industries aluminum neck plugged into Mitch Colby’s 2x12 Alnico Blue Loaded Lil Darlin (modded 5F1 tweed champ) is a truly unique tone that doesn’t sound like any other aluminum neck or semi hollow guitar we’ve ever played before! This guitar is one of many we have designed over the last 10 years with the amazing Attila Custom Guitars right here in Cleveland, Ohio, and we have many more to build!

I’ve had this Colby Lil Darlin 4x10 for a couple years now, and it’s safe to it’s hands down my favorite amp I’ve owned.

A tweed champ circuit with an EL34 and 4 Eminence Alnico Blue frames I robbed from an early 90’s Bassman, you can get every tone you ever needed from the 2 inputs, boost switch, and single volume control. The sensitivity to your guitars volume k**b and pick attack is unreal. The best part is, you can get cranked tweed amp sounds at a gig without getting fired for blowing the windows out! The sweet spot on this is the perfect volume for gigging, and it easily keeps up with amps that have 5x the wattage. On top of sounding great on its own, it’s also the best pedal platform amp if you run a lot of effects.

The other benefits besides the sound are it only requires 3 tubes, so any future visits to the amp tech will be a lot cheaper than taking in pretty much any other model tube amp you’d gig with. I would also argue this is by far the lightest weight tube 4x10 ever made, weighing in lighter than a digital Fender Tonemaster!

From the sound, to the weight, to the ease of maintenance, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better gigging amp for the money.

This isn’t for sale (ever) or any kind of paid endorsement, I am just constantly blown away with this amp especially towards the end of a long summer with heavy gigging.

Since yesterdays personal guitar post was such a hit, I think I might start doing more…

Here’s another one from the personal collection. This is a 1964 Fender Jaguar that was originally custom ordered in transparent white and with a very rare ash body. I was lucky enough to purchase both the Jaguar and tweed Bassman from Woody Jackson, one of my all time favorite guitarists who recorded the soundtrack for Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2, La Noire, Oceans 11…the list goes on and on.

Why these 2 pieces are especially cool to me is they were both used on part of the Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack.

I will never sell these.
