In Florida, outdoor living isn’t just an amenity, it’s an extension of the home.

Thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces create opportunities to gather, relax, dine, and connect with nature throughout much of the year. Covered lanais, screened patios, outdoor kitchens, and comfortable gathering spaces allow homeowners to take full advantage of Florida’s climate while providing shade, protection, and seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces.

For us, great Florida architecture means designing homes around the way people actually live and that often means making the outdoors an essential part of the floor plan. Because in Florida, some of the best rooms in the house don’t have four walls.

Good design doesn’t stop at what you can see.

Our team recently welcomed National Gypsum for a Lunch & Learn focused on the materials and systems behind the finished space.

From natural gypsum and the manufacturing process to exterior sheathing, roof boards, moisture and mold resistance, acoustical performance, impact-resistant systems, shaft walls, and specialty gypsum products, we explored how material selection can directly impact the performance and durability of a building.

Continuing education like this helps us look beyond the drawings, better understand the products we specify, and make more informed design decisions for every project.

One of our team members returned from a summer trip to Barcelona feeling inspired! From La Sagrada Família and the Arc de Triomf to the charming streets of the Gothic Quarter, the city offered remarkable architecture at every turn.

Scenes from a recent trip to Boston by one of our team members:

In a city with a long history, you get interesting juxtapositions of old and new buildings. The first image is a modern glass atrium to connect two existing buildings on Tuft's campus. The second image is colonial Faneuil Hall, the brutalist City Hall, and a modern glass Sephora. In addition to contrasts due to development over time, the city is full of buildings with incredible detail: restrained deco/modern details of Cram's Post Office, brick and cast iron of early skyscrapers, so many intricate entryways, relief-carved intrados, rusticated quoins, and amazing stone and copper cornices.

🌴 A New Icon on the Miami Skyline

The Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences Miami is redefining Miami’s skyline as the city’s first supertall building. Rising an impressive 1,049 feet across 100 floors, this waterfront development is set to become one of the tallest buildings in Florida.

Located in Downtown Miami along Biscayne Bay, the project will combine luxury hotel accommodations with private residences, creating a striking addition to Miami’s evolving architectural landscape.

Designed by Sieger Suarez Architects and architect Carlos Ott, construction began in 2022, with completion and opening anticipated in 2028.
