Icey weather almost always takes a toll on appliances. With the ice often comes brownouts and power surges. Both can damage electrical parts. A brown out is simply voltage that is too low. Lights will dim. Appliances will run for a short time but tend to overheat. It is best to make sure your appliance are turned off and not in use during electrical issues. Remember to turn the refrigerator and freezer back on as soon as your electricity is back to normal. If you do have damage, don’t assume your appliances arent worth fixing. Some of the components can cost as little as $25.

A couple of things to know about your range before Thanksgiving. Do not self clean this week. If self cleaning is going to fail do not test it right before the holiday. There will not be enough time to get the parts. Another helpful hint is to NOT attempt to clean the glass inside the glass door. This is something that is on the difficult scale. If you do need it cleaned I do have some time available Wednesday afternoon. This is experience speaking. Have a great holiday.

Our neighbor brought us sweetcorn. That reminded me that when you freeze alot of sweetcorn at one time it can really warm up your freezer and the corn will not freeze very fast. This it especially true in a hot garage. Before you think your freezer is bad you should have it looked at. It may just be overloaded with heat
