I am a Steering Committee Member and I invite you to join us for the 2026 Memphis Hope Summit.

What does a more hopeful and flourishing Memphis look like, and how can we work together to make it a reality?

On November 5, community leaders, educators, nonprofit professionals, faith leaders, business leaders and neighbors from across Memphis and Shelby County will come together for the Memphis Hope Summit, a free, interactive gathering focused on turning hope into meaningful action.

Through inspiring conversations, practical insights and opportunities to connect, we'll explore how strengthening four interconnected pathways, Education, Workforce, Family and Faith Community, can help more individuals and families flourish.

What You Can Expect:
Hear from featured participants, including Memphis Mayor Paul Young, Shelby County Mayor Mickell Lowery, Kevin Williams and Dr. Ashley Cross, as they explore the Science of Hope, a shared vision for Memphis and what it takes to help communities flourish.

Participate in meaningful conversations through the framework of hope about the opportunities and challenges facing Memphis and Shelby County.

Discover ways to strengthen connections across organizations, sectors and communities as we strive to be a Hope-Centered city and county, and changing the narrative of our city to Hope to Flourishing.

Leave with fresh perspectives and practical ideas for putting hope into action.

Being a self-funded FT Entrepreneur (and Single Woman too) is not for the Weak! There are moments, oooh wee!! I was thinking that I should look for a FT job while I am still building my business, and every time I get to thinking (probably should be praying instead of thinking), I get a..."HR Solutions & Consulting has received a request for services" email. I got two of these this week!! Ookay, okay God!! Thank You!! I see you! I am going to do more praying, thanking Him, and working my business!

Moral of the story: Continue the course as an Entrepreneur, Don't Give up, and Keep Praying! ❤️

Last week, I attended my first 2026 Economic Development Forum, Power Forward, hosted by The Mid-South Business Continuum on August 26th. Thank you to Mayor Paul Young for encouraging businesses to grow and become successful for Memphis economic growth.

Kevin Russell from McKinsey Global Institute shared a wealth of information on “Economic Growth and Empowerment in the era of AI.” Some key takeaways:

GROWTH-
18 Sectors/5 categories (AI Foundation, Electrification, Digitization, Hard Tech, New Bio-Frontiers) will grow really fast because, (1) Technology will push them forward, (2) Investors are investing in them, and (3) Customers are buying them.

WORKFORCE-
· AI will not replace Jobs, Tasks will be Automated
· 51% of work activities will be automated, NOT the job
· People Skills will always be important in moving forward AI-led activities

The message here for my HR Professionals: Learn AI, Champion AI in your organization, Support AI training for your team and leaders, and Implement AI in Strategic HR Initiatives.

POWER FORWARD-
· How can I use the 18 Sectors/5 categories grow my business?
· How does my business affect empowerment around me?
· What does AI Technology do for my business?

I received my Strategic AI Fluency Certification from Bethanie Nonami. Some key nuggets she taught us:
· “AI Fluency” is the ability to think, decide, and lead confidently alongside AI.
· AI is coming for your Value.
· 10 core skills define the AI-Ready Professional – only 1 skill is technical; the other 9 are behavioral.
· AI is not changing our Work; it’s changing our Worth.
· AI Tools + You = More Value & Leverage
· Humans can guide AI towards better outcomes.

Another Reminder: Learn AI, don’t be afraid of it. Embrace it, it is here to stay!
