Two years ago, I made a decision to show up for myself as an entrepreneur, even when the answer might be “no.”

Since then, I’ve submitted roughly ten proposals for contract opportunities. And yes… I’ve heard “no” more than I’ve heard “yes.”

But here’s what I’ve learned: every “no” wasn’t a loss; it was proof that I showed up, put myself out there, and positioned my work to be seen.

I took each one in stride and with pride. Because every submission meant I was one step closer to alignment, growth, and ultimately… my “yes.”

And when that first “yes” came? I was ready for it.

This week, as I submitted another proposal, I found myself excited all over again; not just for the opportunity, but for the growth. A business colleague recently challenged me to think outside of my current box, and that shift in perspective reminded me: evolution is part of the process.

So here’s my encouragement to every entrepreneur, business owner, and visionary:

Don’t let one “no”… or two “no’s”… or even ten… Stop you.

Because the truth is, you’ll never reach your “yes” if you stop submitting, stop believing, or stop showing up.

Keep going. Your “yes” is still in progress.

The last time I held a diploma cover was 2009…and at the time, I truly believed I had reached the finish line of my educational journey.

Life had other plans.

will stretch you. It will challenge what you think you know and push you to grow in ways you never expected. Along the way, I realized something powerful…you never stop learning.

After completing the 12-week Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women in Business program, I was handed another diploma cover; one that now proudly sits in my office as a reminder that growth is ongoing.

But that wasn’t the end either.

Somewhere between completing that cohort and rebranding my business, I felt a pull to go even further. To sharpen my skills. To expand my vision. To elevate not just my business, but myself.

So I said yes to me again…and enrolled in my second master’s program in Strategic Innovation and Leadership.

Now, at the end of my first semester, I can confidently say; I’m so glad I did.

Because every step matters. Every accomplishment matters. Every moment of growth deserves to be celebrated.

We never stop evolving.
We never stop learning.
We never stop becoming.

And I’m grateful for every lesson that’s shaping me into being not just one of the best, but a leading Business Development Strategist.

One week ago, I celebrated four years in business with JC Business Consulting and what a journey it has been.

From securing my very first client providing digital marketing and management services… to helping aspiring entrepreneurs launch their dreams, develop strategic business plans, and build impactful websites… to now partnering with organizations to strengthen their overall business strategy; this journey has truly been a whirlwind of growth and purpose.

Along the way, I’ve gained more than accolades. I’ve gained wisdom.

I’ve learned when to walk away and protect my peace, my business, and my brand. I’ve learned to navigate the unexpected twists that entrepreneurship inevitably brings. And most importantly, I’ve learned that sustainability in business requires both strategy and self-awareness.

As I step into year five, I do so with gratitude, clarity, and bold expectation. I’m excited about the new collaborations ahead, the entrepreneurs I will meet, and the organizations I will have the honor of serving.

This new AI caricature trend didn’t just pop up; it blew up overnight. And what stood out most to me wasn’t the artwork, but the response.

Even some of the most AI-skeptical, “old-school” professionals leaned in and that says a lot about the power of influence and curiosity.

For me, it became more than a trend. It revealed professions I didn’t even know my social media connections had, and unexpectedly offered a glimpse into their hobbies, interests, and personalities beyond titles and résumés.

It was a reminder that innovation doesn’t have to replace the traditional way of doing things; it can enhance how we connect, learn, and show up.

So if you’re still on the fence about what’s next in the business world, consider this your sign: Don’t be afraid to explore. Dive in. And yes: have a little fun with it.
