Pastor Elect Yancey preached a phenomenal word today — real, relevant, and right on time.
After teaching four parables — the Farmer Scattering Seed, the Lamp, the Growing Seed, and the Mustard Seed — Jesus invited the disciples into a promise: “Let’s cross to the other side.”
Don’t forget God’s promise to you.
We often forget His promise when circumstances don’t match our expectations. Sometimes God leads us into places that don’t look like what He promised.
On the way to the other side, a fierce storm arose (Mark 4:37). What was once a peaceful view shifted into panic as water began filling the boat. Fear made them forget the promise, but they still remembered their Promise Keeper.
Jesus slept through the storm until they cried out, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” (v.38)
But the promise was to cross over, not to drown.
Jesus rose, rebuked the wind, and spoke to the waves: “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly everything became calm.
You must speak to your storm to find peace in it.
Then Jesus asked, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” (v.40)
God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but power, love, and a sound mind (2 Tim. 1:7).
“Who is this man?” the disciples asked, amazed that even the wind and waves obeyed Him (v.41).
Who is this man?
• Cancer obeys Him
• Poverty obeys Him
• Suicidal thoughts obey Him
• Grief obeys Him
His Name is Jesus.
At His name every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord!
