Zoftig Vintage Bijoux

Zoftig Vintage Bijoux The moment my love affair with jewelry began is clearly etched into my memory, even though it was 6 decades ago. Please come back often and see the updates!

Vintageand antique items repurposed, especially antique watches, coins and rhinestones & vintage hardware become art jewelry for today but with an interesting history. My mother was having a 'home party' of some sort. Supposed to stay in my bed asleep, instead I wandered into our dining room where the most beautiful, sparkely things I had even seen were displayed on our table. My Mother showed me

a neckalce that was make for little girls and asked me if I liked it. Not only did I love it, I only hoped and dreamed it could be mine one day. Well the necklace showed up in a package for me one day and I still have it, proudly displayed. It is little pink, blue and yellow flower clusters on a gold filled background and chain. It has no marks on it at all and I really wish I knew the maker. This was the early 1950s and such companies as Sarah Coventry had not started yet. All through my growing up the jewelry pieces I was given or purchased myself have been my very favorite accessories, treasures to keep and appreciate for a lifetime. Couple the love of jewelry with the respect for antiques and high craftsmanship of the past and ZoftigDoll was born. I come from a family of very creative women, talented artist in a number of fields. We have encouraged each other in all of our avenues, from pen and ink, pottery, my mother's magical crochet needle, oil painting and my sister the master of the written word...the writer. It is very satisfing to me to take something, not in use anymore and turn it into a new item to be loved and appreciated, especially if it becomes a piece of jewelry - a one of a kind piece of art. There is a cool new word for this and it is 'recycle'! It is more than that to me because the attention to detail, beauty and the patience artist of the past put into their pieces needs to be recognized and appreciated. A great example of this is all the guilloche designs the watchmakes put on the pocket watch works. This artwork was never seen by anyone but the maker and repair man. I love to use these pieces in lots of my jewelry designs. I hope you enjoy looking through my items and thanks for stopping by! Jan (ZoftigDoll)

I've intended to post this picture of Loren & that cute charm necklace for weeks! Why am I so slow...don't answer that! I don't know the girl's name who put all those together the day they had the event. So post it someone who knows so she can get credit for her work. I am SO delighted to see charm bracelet and necklaces becoming cool again! I have several old charm with on them I need to start wearing plus my giant one I had in high school so you may be seeing pictures of those I think they're delightful and fun and you can make them your own! I have a couple of with some of my stones and things I'm probably going to post at some point but I just love this idea and was sorry I could not attend the event. And Fannie in going to see you before long. I see you all have transferred to fall so I'm stopping in before long again. Hugs to everyone!

So have you fallen in love with my Paris, yet? And all of France. I can say MY Paris because we do have a love story. It was heart wrenching to leave. As I stood in Republic Square the last day, Paris and I promised each other we would meet again this was not goodbye but au revoir. We have had our Rendezvous again and it was even more magical. Enough of our Tete a' tete. What I wish to show you closely is this lovely French coin. It's a five Franc dated 1978. The woman on the front has been named "The Sower". Oscar Routy is the Artist and his name is clear at the bottom. She has a bag of seeds in one hand & she is sprinkling seeds from her other. Gown flowing as the sun is rising walking into a bright future, leaving her seeds of goodness for others to reap. She is also wearing that Pyrenees cap we have heard so much about. There are a few of these at the market inside Master Design Salon on 5149 Wheelis Dr that's also where Coming Attractions has a Boutique.

What a delightful day this was! It feels so good to get out and do regular things like going to one my favorite places Paradox at PeCo. I got to see some favorite ppl! Like Loren who was wearing her charm necklace from the event they hosted recently. I wondered how that went and she said it was great! And found out we have friends of friends together, how cool is that!? Maddie is always delightful to see and as we talked she showed me that she was wearing one of the necklaces I made for Paradox. I love that so much after 2 months of staying home while my hip healed I walk in and she has my necklace on. Made my day I love a good synchronicity! Thank you universe!
