If those are your two differentiators, they’re probably your competitors’ differentiators, too.
Only 24% of B2B leaders strongly agree that their positioning is meaningfully different from their competitors. That means three out of four are describing themselves the same way as the vendor down the street.
That’s not just a messaging problem. It’s a map problem, too.
An $18M manufacturer had been stuck at 5% annual growth and couldn’t name one differentiator it truly owned. Every competitor claimed the same expertise and service it did.
Then the research surfaced what none of them were talking about. By the time these buyers called, they were already losing sales and missing targets, unable to produce fast enough to keep up with their own growth. They weren’t shopping for expertise.
They were in pain.
The company built its position around relieving that pain. Sales rose 40% the following year.
The opening had been there the whole time. Nobody had drawn the map.
