While doing a coop clean for one of our loyal customers, we noticed some click clacking going on. Upon further investigation they had rather large mud balls on each of their toes. After we finished up cleaning their space for them we grabbed each hen and peeled away at the mudballs until they were free! What a relief!

Another coop s**c and span!
Did you know DE, frequently used for parasite prevention, when used in excess can do more harm than good! DE acts as microcopic razor blades that shred the pest's exoskeletons from the inside once ingested. For most large animals harmless but for chickens, who have very sensitive respiratory tracts, this can actually lead to more issues. We always recommend elector PSP for mite infestations! It is pricey, but it allows you to treat both your flock AND your coop. This is crucial for certain mites to break the cycle once and for all! Mites and lice have been RAMPANT this year! Weve gotten 4 calls just this week for treatments/prevention. It can be hard to see them at times, so i thought this video may serve to show you what they look like! The rice sized brownish ones are lice, and the singular red blood mite can be seen mid video.
