The 4th of July is often seen as a celebration of independence.

But perhaps there is a broader thought behind it that is relevant far beyond one country: the idea that people can live together in freedom, with respect, responsibility, and a shared commitment to building something better.

In a world that feels increasingly divided, maybe it is time to return to some of those basic principles.

Freedom does not only mean standing apart. It also means understanding how we live, work, trade, and build together — across cultures, borders, companies, and communities.

Maybe the real challenge for our generation is not only to protect independence, but to redefine the ground rules for cooperation, trust, and mutual respect.

Because progress is never built by one person, one company, or one country alone.

It is built when people choose to move forward together.

This Memorial Day, Compass Strategic Advisors pauses to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

We remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in past wars, as well as those who passed while serving in more recent missions, deployments, training, and duties that may not always be widely recognized—but reflect the same courage, commitment, and sacrifice.

Today, we honor the fallen while also holding hope for a future where war is no longer used as a tool of power. We can hold deep reverence for those who served and sacrificed, while still calling for a path toward a more peaceful world.

Their service reminds us that freedom is protected not only on distant battlefields, but through every act of duty carried out in defense of others.

Today, we honor their lives, their families, and the legacy they leave behind.
