Named one of America's Top 500 Wineries by Food & Wine Magazine, and recently named the 4th Best Tasting Room in the US by USA Today, Hermit Woods is a small boutique winery and deli located in Meredith NH that developed out of a partnership between Bob Manley, Ken Hardcastle, and Chuck Lawrence. Together, we strive to make wine, mead, and hard cider of the highest quality with the greatest emphas

is on locally grown fruit and honey. In addition to growing and foraging our own ingredients, we work closely with local farmers and pickers to find the best possible materials, ideally organic, to make our wine with. Some of the products currently available include wild blueberry, elderberry, crabapple, cranberry, raspberry, heirloom apple, and various blends of all the above and more. We seek to identify the depth and breadth of fruit that can be found in abundance in our local community and make the best wine we can from it, often in a dry style that will hold up to any traditional grape-based wine. We are very passionate about every aspect of producing wine, but more importantly, we love sharing our wine and the experience we have making it, with our guests. We hope our wines bring you the same enjoyment we’ve had making them. Visit us at our winery in Meredith or on the web at www.hermitwoods.com.

As promised… more pictures from a very special Meredith Street Dance.

In our last post, we shared why this particular Street Dance felt like more than just a Street Dance. Now we wanted to share more of the moments from that evening.

Main Street was filled with neighbors, friends, families, local businesses, visitors, music, dancing, laughter, and a whole lot of community spirit.

On a day that began with remembrance, including Lynn Leighton’s thoughtful words and moment of silence honoring those we lost on September 11th, Meredith came together and reminded us that there can also be room for friendship, joy, and connection.

The Greater Meredith Program is proud to help bring the Street Dance to Main Street twice each year, but it takes a community to make it happen. Thank you to the Town of Meredith, Meredith DPW, Meredith Police and Fire Departments, No Limits, our downtown businesses, volunteers, and — most importantly — all of you who came out and filled Main Street.

Looking through these pictures, we think they capture pretty well what we love about this town.

This is Meredith. This is community. And this one really was special.

See someone you know? Tag them in the photos!

Sometimes a Street Dance is more than just a Street Dance.

Twice each year, the Greater Meredith Program (GMP) works hard alongside the Town of Meredith, local businesses, volunteers, and community partners to bring the Meredith Street Dance to Main Street. It is always one of those wonderful evenings when we get to close the road, turn up the music, and simply enjoy being together as a community.

But last night was different.

It was September 11th.

Before the music began, Lynn Leighton opened the evening with thoughtful words and a moment of silence, giving us all a chance to remember and honor those we lost on 9/11. Thank you, Lynn, for setting exactly the right tone for the evening.

Then Meredith did what Meredith does so well. People gathered. They danced. They laughed. They shared food and drinks. Old friends caught up and new friends were made.

Afterward, one person who attended shared something on Facebook that reminded us why events like this matter:

“9/11 is a particularly hard day for me… so I didn’t plan on going out tonight, but I did… all of the town that showed up tonight changed the narrative of a sad day into something joyous, positive, and loving.

Thank you to the entire town. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.”

That says more about the evening than we ever could.

The Street Dance takes a lot of people working together to make it happen, and we are grateful to everyone who played a part — No Limits, Meredith DPW, the Meredith Police Department, Meredith Fire Department, our local businesses, volunteers, musicians, residents, visitors, and everyone who came downtown and filled Main Street.

At Hermit Woods, we were especially touched to be mentioned as a small part of this person’s evening. We are proud to be a downtown Meredith business, and even prouder to be part of a community that knows how to come together.

September 11th will always be a day to remember those we lost. Last night also reminded us of something worth holding onto: community matters. Showing up for one another matters.

Thank you, Meredith. This one was special. (More pictures to follow soon)

LIVE FROM THE LOFT AT HERMIT WOODS — CANTRIP!

Cantrip returns to The Loft at Hermit Woods W**ery & Eatery for another high-energy night of music!

Born from the Scottish traditional music scene, Cantrip brings together the unmistakable sounds of fiddle, bagpipes, guitar and rich vocals with influences that stretch well beyond traditional Celtic music. Expect driving rhythms, remarkable musicianship and a healthy dose of musical mischief.

The name “Cantrip” is an Old Scots word meaning a charm, magic spell or piece of mischief—and that’s a pretty good description of what happens when these musicians take the stage.

Join us LIVE from Meredith, New Hampshire, and experience Cantrip from our intimate 60-seat listening room, The Loft at Hermit Woods.

If you’re watching from Scotland—or anywhere else around the world—say hello in the comments and let us know where you’re tuning in from!
