Latest. We went out into the woods in order to find the right stone/boulder. Approx 500 lbs. After using rollers to get it into proper alignment we tried to set it for level or as close as possible to level. While leveling it I noticed a slight line or thin white line created by a sedimentary deposit perhaps millions of years ago. What I realized as we looked for level was that the white line had to have had been a liquid which sat on top of the boulder before it was a boulder, while it was still earth and part of a larger ledge. The liquid spread out, cooled and then the stone developed additional sediment, but at one time it was liquid and as liquid it was level. Years later we were returning this liquid line back to its earlier form of level as determined by it birth. How cool is that? Level to level. When liquid sits it goes to level since the beginning of time.
I will try to find a close up of the line.

My beautiful assistant daughter. She’s so strong.

The basalt tide pools of the Oregon Coast. Wonderlands in each pool. Yes, the sea star was returned unharmed.

Often times a section of stone wall will fail and drop several stones. Rebuilding the failed section is an opportunity for a study in history. Why did it fail? What methods were used? How did it last as long as it did? What can be done to fix it? rebuild sections of wall as well as provide assessments and or DIY building instruction.

To aid our customers we offer a billing option for square foot repairs ( $26.50 per sq ft) and or consultation ( $60 per hr). This option allows us to preserve a section which has not failed while working on the section which has. We will let you know the integrity of the section we leave in tact. We will tell you why the wall failed and we will offer you repair options. This allows the customer to be an informed agent for their own property.

It gives us the opportunity to treat a stone wall like opening a book into the past.
