Skip what I’m about to write, and just go over to to see how amazing Allie’s work is.

Allie wanted to get back to painting for a long time, but it wasn’t until a season of grief that she picked up her brushes to find solace. In doing so, she reawakened a long-held dream to become a professional artist.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀.

I can’t wait for you to read this chapter in my upcoming book (working title: 𝘏𝘦𝘳 𝘍𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴) to discover how she learned to balance motherhood with her career goals.

Until then, follow Allie’s art—you’ll love it.

I never set out to become a thought leader when I started my blog back in 2009.

I simply wanted to help people feel more comfortable giving and receiving gift cards and create a side gig to help provide for my family.

Fast forward 15 years, and there's still so much to learn, so much to share, and so much work to be done. But this is my primary business and has been the biggest "faithful career move" of my life.

Thank you to Authority Magazine and Dina Aletra for the opportunity to reflect on this journey and discuss the future of the gift card industry.

I'm passionate about proving that God is in the details of our lives (and careers) because I have repeatedly seen His hand in mine.

I absolutely love gift cards. But as much joy as they bring, problems with scammers and fraud need to be addressed.

I started my personal brand as a consumer guide to gift cards to showcase how to make gift cards more personal, but it naturally transitioned to helping consumers deal with gift card problems. It may seem like a small niche in the payment industry, but it's a corner of the world I know better than anyone else.

I'm grateful to a loving Heavenly Father for guiding me toward this business and the opportunity to positively impact the industry. 🙏

Thank you for your continued support as I strive to make gift cards safer and more enjoyable for everyone!

Such a good example of partnering in pursuing.

Such a good example of partnering in pursuing.

“I pursued an education, both undergraduate and a law degree. I was married midway through my legal education. I had my first son the year after I passed the bar. I had babies, and my husband and I loved and nurtured them while we were both working. It was busy, sometimes hectic; we were stretched and sometimes tired. I supported him, and he supported me. Family was, and still is, our top priority. My husband and I sought inspiration in these choices and in the timing. It was what we felt impressed to do. We were trying to let God prevail.

“From a financial and professional perspective, it would have made sense to put off having children until I was more established in my career. In letting God prevail, we sometimes do things that others can’t make sense of.

“I juggled pregnancy, having babies, nurturing children, carpool, Little League, Church responsibilities, being a supportive spouse, and my professional pursuits. It was a joyful juggle I wouldn’t change. We felt confident in our course because we were letting God prevail.

“Being a mother is my highest priority. It is my ultimate joy. That focus is consistent with my diligent pursuit of an education. We are commanded to seek learning—some of which comes in our pursuit of education and much of which comes in our orientation as daughters of God toward motherhood—where we learn to become godlike as we cultivate attributes of love, compassion, and patience.

“Whatever our personal circumstances, we are all part of the family of God, members of an earthly family, and preparing to be eternal parents.” — Camille N. Johnson , Relief Society General President

8 years seemingly wandering in the wilderness…but they weren’t. God was leading them to the launch pad—the place they needed to get to build a ship. A ship? Yes. But not “after the manner of men.”

As this family humbled themselves, stayed grateful, and sought guidance, the Lord showed them what to do.

And when it was time to board the ship, they loaded it up with “provisions according to that which the Lord had commanded.”

God will always GUIDE and PROVIDE when we involve him in our efforts.

This was an ancient story with an ancient task.

Today that might look like getting an education that prepares you for a career journey you’ll need to take. We “gather” skills as we go through this life—one class, one connection, one job, and one experience at a time. It won’t always make sense in the moment, but as you stay humble, grateful, and in synch with God, you too will have all the provisions you need to accomplish the task at hand.

I promise.

New Episode!

This week, I'm speaking to Jenny Doan, co-founder of the Missouri Star Quilt Company ().

In addition to telling us how she and her family started a business that transformed their lives, revitalized a town, and modernized the entire quilting industry, Jenny says that people work best when their jobs align with their "magic"--the things they are really good at and enjoy doing. She also explains how she discovered the power of sharing her own magic.

I had so much fun talking to Jenny - I can't wait for you to listen to this interview. Download it now and get started!

My life changed in noticeable ways when I began daily reading the Book of Mormon more than a decade ago. Earlier this year, I took Elder Ronald A. Rasband's advice and started searching the scriptures for Doctrine. (Read his talk called, "This Day.") Thanks to a study group with a few women I met in Idaho, my testimony of this book has grown significantly. More importantly, miracles are unfolding in our lives.

I wholeheartedly believe the promises made by Elder Gary E. Stevenson when he said:

"Anytime we read and study from the Book of Mormon, we can expect remarkable outcomes."

and

"...studying regularly from this book about Jesus Christ will change your life. It will open your eyes to new possibilities. It will increase your hope and fill you with charity. Most of all, it will build and strengthen your faith in Jesus Christ and bless you with a sure knowledge that He and our Father know you, love you, and want you to find your way back home, with a capital H."

Dr. gets multiple quotes and I could make so many more. Some of the key takeaways from our interview is:

1. God wants us to use our heads, hearts, and hands to serve others and find joy in this life.

2. Our Heavenly Parents want us to find joy in every season of life, and that means doing what they and our Savior tell us to do when prompted.

3. There's a big problem in Utah, and it will take BOLD MOVES to solve it. But Dr. Madsen has a plan and it's worth listening to.

I could go on.

Just listen to the podcast.

Sometimes it helps me to look around and think about the gifts I see in others--not to compare myself, but to be reminded of how different we all are and how we can use our unique talents to serve others.

Notice, I didn't say financially...

There are many ways to develop your talents to find joy, bless your family, serve others, and increase your sphere of influence to bring others to Christ. Some people earn a paycheck in the process, but not all.

So think about it...

How are you using your talents to bless your family?

Actual footage of the Post-it note in my bathroom.

This isn't a social media template. This is me reminding myself to trust the process (shout out to Elder Kukuk Michael Kukuk), believe in the promises, and be happy in the waiting.

I want to get through this trial and say, "Thank you! I knew you had me in your hands, and the result would be better than what I prayed for! I tried my best to stay positive when it took longer than expected."

I don't want to just endure and AGAIN say, "Thank you! I'm so sorry I cried in frustration and fear because you didn't answer my prayers in the way or in the time I wanted."

Posting this today in case you also need a reminder to be happy in the waiting.

Its gonna be ok.
