Minimum charge of 6 hours ($480) This charge is the minimum we must make per job in order to be profitable. We charge $80 per hour. Payment is due at time of service, unless previously discussed. We average cutting 200-300 board feet per hour which comes out to $0.27 - $0.4 per board foot. Billing starts when we start setting up the mill and continues until the mill is shut off after the last log is cut. We do not charge for lunch break, or down time related to mechanical difficulties. If a blade were to break (which is rare) the clock continues and you are billed for the time to change out a blade. This is the same for changing out a dull blade. If we hit metal we charge $40 a blade. If you are concerned about metal in your logs we can bring a metal detector. We have experience cutting a wide variety of dimensions and jobs both hardwoods and softwoods. Dimensional lumber. (most common)
Our mill can cut lumber as thin as a dime. We have experience quarter sawing lumber. Slabbing logs to make live edge lumber, bar tops, benches, tables, etc. Posts, beams, timbers. Log cabin logs, such as D logs (flat 3 sided, round one side), oval logs (flat 2 opposing sides, round 2 opposing sides), Specialty cut logs for ridge beams and the top wall log. Have the logs in a single pile, so that the logs can be easily rolled onto the mill arms. Logs larger than 30 inches in diameter take longer to square up, and may require trimming with a chainsaw. Logs shorter than 8 feet also take longer, as they require using the manual arms and may need to be positioned by hand. Logs that are dirty will cause the blade to dull very quick, thereby slowing the overall process down due to having to change blades frequently. We have an average cutting rate of 200-300 board feet an hour cutting 4/4 lumber (1 inch lumber). We have an average cutting rate of 300-400 board feet per hour cutting 2 inch lumber. Misc:
Space for the mill and truck. Mill is approximately 24 feet long, truck is approximately 20 feet long. Length of everything combined is approximately 45 feet.
