Please join Basin Fertilizer & Chemical Co., LLC in congratulating Tom Woodhouse on his retirement after more than 46 years of dedicated service to BFC. Tom is Basin’s longestserving employee and has been part of nearly all of Basin Fertilizer’s 50 years of commitment to growers in the Klamath Basin.

Tom began his career at BFC fresh out of high school in June 1979, when the company was just getting off the ground. In those early years, he did a little bit of everything — running the Barber spreader, airflow, sprayer, and delivering liquid fertilizer. For more than two decades, Tom served as lot foreman, managing daytoday operations, directing the crew and applicators, and ensuring fertilizer moved out the door efficiently and on time. When Basin Fertilizer transitioned into an LLC in 2014, Tom was humbled and honored when Chris Moudry and Bob Gasser invited him to become an owner.

What Tom valued most throughout his career were the people he worked alongside every day. His coworkers became the individuals he learned from, laughed with, and leaned on through long seasons and tough stretches. He often said he grew up with them, sharing milestones both on and off the job.

Though Tom was never one to highlight his own accomplishments, Basin Fertilizer would like to recognize a few. His deep institutional knowledge became the backbone of daily operations — the kind of expertise every strong organization relies on and deeply misses when it’s gone. We’re grateful knowing he’s still close by if we need help with the blender or a reminder on how to change the drag chain. After years of dispatching, Tom knows every field in the Basin and the best way to reach each one. His ability to pivot quickly and troubleshoot equipment challenges is unmatched.
