Wisconsin County Forests Association

Wisconsin County Forests Association Thirty County Forests in Wisconsin are enrolled under County Forest Law state §28.10 & 28.11. We hope to see you out there exploring!

The Wisconsin County Forests Association serves as a collaborative forum and service for Wisconsin's 30 County Forests who manage lands sustainably for multiple use and public benefit. These counties have a multiple use management policy for public benefit. This means our focus is to ensure the long-term health and sustainability of forest ecosystems while providing benefits to the public. Our top

management objectives are Resource Management, Timber Management, Public Recreational Opportunities, Wildlife Habitat Improvement, and Watershed Protection. Our management ensures that our county forests will be protected and used sustainably for future generations. Wisconsin’s forests are important not only to our environment but also to Wisconsin’s economic health. Our objectives fuel Wisconsin’s economy by creating jobs statewide. In addition, income from county forest timber sales provides tax relief at the local level. For nature lovers, our management of recreational opportunities and wildlife habitat improvements offer you the best tangible value. There are over 2.4 million acres for the public to explore literally in your backyard. You can visit for wildlife viewing, hunting, snowmobiling, fishing and numerous other activities. We also nurture our partnership between the county & state. This partnership allows us to provide public education regarding proper management and use of our important natural resources and ensure benefits such as fire protection in all our forests.

Happy National Forest Products Week! 🌲🎉

We’re kicking off a week-long celebration of our favorite innovations that are shaping our sustainable future!

Today’s highlight: Forest Products 101!

: The products from our forests—think wood, paper, and bio-based fuels—are not just cool; they’re vital in the battle against climate change! Sourced from sustainably managed forests, these materials capture carbon and offer climate-smart alternatives to plastic and fossil fuels.

From game-changing construction materials like cross-laminated timber to renewable energy solutions, forest products are leading the way toward a greener tomorrow. And remember, trees regrow, making our forests a renewable resource! 🌳💚

This , let’s celebrate the innovation, sustainability, and impact of forest products on our economy and environment.

From the Amazon to the Arctic, trees are working overtime to capture carbon pollution from the atmosphere and lock it safely away in their wood. Now, thanks to a new digital platform designed by scientists and data engineers, we know just how hard they are working. Nonprofit CTREES will soon launch what might seem like a tool of a futuristic world: a digital platform offering high accuracy, artificial intelligence-enabled satellite data that allows stakeholders to measure carbon emissions and removals from every tree on the planet, with complete accuracy. This powerful tool will provide real-time information about tree and forest health and has the potential to refine carbon offset initiatives that often struggle with calculating their emission reduction efforts.
