Breast Cancer Facts Everyone Should Know
1. Men can get breast cancer, too.
While it's much more common in women, about 1 in 100 breast cancer diagnoses occur in men. Don't ignore changes just because you're male. ⬅
2. Early detection saves lives.
Finding breast cancer early greatly improves the chances of successful treatment.
3. Know what's normal for your body.
See a healthcare provider if you notice:
• A new lump or thickening
• Changes in breast size or shape
• Ni**le discharge (especially if bloody)
• Skin dimpling or puckering
• Redness or swelling
• A ni**le that suddenly turns inward
• Persistent pain in one area
4. Breast cancer isn't always painful.
Many breast cancers cause no pain at all, which is why paying attention to changes is so important.
5. Anyone can be affected.
Breast cancer can occur in women and men of many ages, though risk generally increases as people get older.
6. A family history increases risk—but most people diagnosed have no close family history.
Knowing your family history is important, but not having one doesn't mean you're risk-free.
7. Regular screening matters.
Talk with your healthcare provider about when mammograms or other screening may be appropriate based on your age and personal risk factors.
8. Don't wait.
If something doesn't feel right, get it checked. It's always better to hear, "It's nothing," than to wish you'd gone sooner.
Awareness isn't just for October. Support, education, and early detection matter every day of the year.
