Most folks around here assume a flooded basement is automatically covered by their homeowners policy. A lot of the time, it isn't. 💧

Standard policies often exclude water that backs up through a sump pump or a drain.

That coverage usually comes from a separate rider you have to add on purpose. Plenty of people learn this the hard way, after a denied claim.

The fix is one phone call: ask your insurance agent if you have sump pump and water backup coverage. If you don't, it's usually cheap to add.

If the worst does happen, we handle the cleanup and work with your insurance start to finish.

A gutter packed with wet leaves has nowhere to send water, so it spills over the edge and runs straight down the siding. From there, it pools against the foundation, where it can find its way into the basement or crawl space. Clearing the troughs and confirming your downspouts carry water several feet away from the house saves you a much bigger problem this fall.

We had a water loss last year in a kitchen with beautiful oak hardwood floors.

We did our assessment and told the homeowners there was water trapped underneath, but they couldn't see it, so they weren't sure they wanted to do anything about it.

We told them they'd probably be calling us back in three days when the wood started to buckle.

Sure enough, three days later the wood was buckling, and they called.

We took care of the job, replaced the cabinets, and kept everything intact the best we could, and they were really happy with how it turned out.
