Something that people don't think about during insurance claims: How soon you'll get the money.

It's easy to think that when you file a claim, you'll get your check in a fair timeframe to help build your life back.

This doesn't always happen.

Many times, it can take months for your insurance company to write you a check, and there can be a lot of stressful back-and-forth about what is and isn't covered.

In the meantime, you don't have enough money to live.

One of our clients dealt with this situation: a fire deemed their house as a total loss, and without that insurance check, they had no money and no place to stay.

That's where we came in.

After negotiating with their insurance, we were able to get them an advance payment of $15,000 so they could pay for somewhere to live while the rest of the claims process occured.

Then we got them another $85K for the claim itself.

This is why it is always a good idea to get professional representation with filing an insurance claim: they can help you with things you might not even consider until it's too late.

We got this client almost $100K more than the insurance company was originally willing to offer!

This client suffered a massive fire on one of their properties, destroying multiple rooms and causing thousands of dollars of damage.

For this total loss, the insurance company originally wanted to offer around $165K.

That's when we got the call.

When we got our public adjusters on the case, we:
✅ Provided our own, unbiased evaluation of damages (including contents)
✅ Negotiated with the insurance adjuster on behalf of the client
✅ Walked the client through the whole process to make sure they knew their rights.

That's obviously bad fire damage. However, it's even worse than what can be seen on the surface.

When wood burns to this point, its load-bearing integrity is fundamentally changed, even in the boards that still look mostly intact.

The damage you can't see is often just as significant as the damage you CAN see.

This is one of the most common ways insurance claims fall short. A surface-level assessment looks at what's charred and visible. A thorough one asks what's been weakened, what needs to be replaced to bring the structure back to code, and what the true cost of doing this correctly actually is.

Here's what you can do: before any work begins and before you agree to any settlement, make sure the full structural picture has been evaluated, not just what's visible on the surface. A licensed public adjuster will bring in the right expertise to make sure nothing gets underestimated.

You paid for a policy that's supposed to make you whole. Make sure your claim reflects that.
