What happens when you put leaders from across the automotive aftermarket to learn from and next to each other?

We’re excited to find out.

This week, Tom is at Northwood University attending Leadership 2.0 through the University of the Aftermarket after being awarded a scholarship through the Vehicle Service Experts (VSE) of the Auto Care Association. 🥳 Leadership 2.0 brings together professionals from different corners of the aftermarket to dig into leadership, communication, culture, strategy, industry trends and the challenges facing our industry.

For us at ShiftPoint Training Academy, that opportunity has an even bigger ripple effect! Our goal has never been simply to tell independent repair shops what to do. We want to keep learning, asking better questions, challenging our own thinking and bringing new perspectives back to the people we coach.

When Tom or Samantha learn something that can make a difference inside an independent repair business, we get the opportunity to translate this into something practical:
👉🏻 How can a shop owner use this?
👉🏻 How can this help a manager lead differently?
👉🏻 How can we use this to build stronger Teams?
👉🏻 How can we use this to better develop the next generation of leaders in our industry?

That’s what has us excited about Leadership 2.0. Tom may be the one sitting in the classroom this week, but our hope is that what he brings home will ultimately benefit a whole lot more people.

We’re grateful to VSE and the Auto Care Association for making this opportunity possible. Now, Tom… Take good notes. We’ve got questions. 🤔📚

THIS is why education in our roles as automotive service providers is so important! 💥

People don’t know what they don’t know, and it’s our responsibility as professionals to educate and inform our Clients, visitors, social media followers, etc. on the importance of maintenance and other service recommendations, and the potential outcomes if not addressed. When people feel taken care of and empowered, they feel comfortable and more trusting. THIS is how we successfully guide people through the service and repair process. Try it! 🥳

At Schearer's Sales & Service, we STRONGLY recommend 5,000 mile oil service intervals. 🚗 The longer oil circulates within your vehicle's engine, the further it breaks down, making it easier for the engine to consume. It also causes sludge to build up on the internals of the engine. This causes strain, leading to internal failure and expensive repairs. 🤯 When this sludge builds up, oil filters can collapse (As pictured on the left) resulting in oil pressure issues as oil is unable to flow properly through the filter, preventing it from lubricating the engine sufficiently. This can lead to check engine lights, running issues, etc. 😖 If you plan to keep your vehicle long-term, we strongly recommend keeping up with 5,000 mile oil service intervals (Or once per year-Whichever comes first!). Ready to get scheduled? Give us a call in the office at 📞 610-395-8433 or visit us online at 💻 www.schearers.com.

Bigger isn’t always better.

As we continue building ShiftPoint Training Academy, Tom and I have had a lot of conversations about what we want this company to become, and I think the answer surprised even us: We don’t want to be the biggest coaching company. We want to be one of the most meaningful coaching relationships our Clients have.

Could we serve more people? Absolutely. But we’ve intentionally chosen to stay small. Because every shop is different. Every leader is different. Every Service Advisor is different. The conversations that help one person grow may not be the conversations another person needs to have.

That’s why our coaching isn’t built around filling seats, it’s built around building relationships: Knowing what happened in your shop this week. Helping you navigate the difficult customer conversation. Celebrating the win you worked so hard to achieve. Holding you accountable when you need it most.

That’s the kind of coaching we believe creates lasting change.

Small by design. Not because we have to be… Because that’s how we believe people grow.

❤️ Train the Team. Transform the Business. 💥

2026 HALFTIME.
The first six months of 2026 are behind us. Many shop owners and leaders will spend the next few weeks reviewing sales numbers, profit margins, car count and KPIs.

Those numbers matter, but here are the bigger questions:
Have YOU improved?
Have you become a better leader?
A better communicator?
A better coach?
Have the people around you grown because of your leadership?

The halfway point of the year isn’t a report card, it’s a checkpoint: An opportunity to reflect, recommit and refocus. This isn’t about calling anyone out, it’s about calling ourselves up.

What’s ONE thing you’ll improve before December 31st?

👇 Comment “HALFTIME” and I’ll send you our FREE Mid-Year Leadership & Team Growth Assessment.

For decades, independent repair shops have helped keep America moving by providing trusted service, supporting local communities, creating careers and protecting consumer choice.

Today, our industry is at an important moment. Congress is currently considering the REPAIR Act, legislation designed to help ensure independent repair facilities continue to have access to the critical repair and diagnostic information needed to properly service today’s increasingly advanced vehicles.

Without fair access to repair data, consumers could face:
🔧 Fewer choices on where to repair their vehicles
💰 Higher repair costs
⏱ Longer wait times
🏪 Increased pressure on local independent repair shops

This issue impacts our entire aftermarket community, including:
💥 Shop Owners
💥 Technicians
💥 Service Advisors
💥 Parts Suppliers
💥 Trainers & Educators
💥 Vehicle Owners

At ShiftPoint Training Academy, we believe consumers should have the freedom to choose where they repair and maintain their vehicles, and independent repair professionals should have the ability to continue serving their communities safely and effectively.

If you support the future of independent repair and consumer choice, please take 30 seconds to make your voice heard!
