Safety Doesn’t Stop When the Sun Goes Down.

Heat is one of the biggest hazards we face while working in the environmental emergency response industry—especially when our crews are suited up in protective PPE. The added heat load from chemical-resistant suits, gloves, boots, respiratory protection, and other equipment can quickly increase the risk of heat stress.

When Arizona temperatures climb, we work closely with our clients to adjust schedules whenever possible and complete the work during cooler periods, reducing direct exposure to the sun.

This particular project was completed at night during one of the hottest weeks in Arizona. The nighttime temperature wasn’t much cooler, but eliminating direct sunlight made a significant difference for our crew.

Our team followed proper work/rest cycles, maintained hydration, monitored one another for signs of heat-related illness, and took the time necessary to perform the work safely.

Emergency response doesn’t always happen under ideal conditions. Planning, communication, proper PPE, and looking out for one another are what allow us to get the job done safely.

Weekend or weekday, Emergency Environmental Services is always ready to respond when our clients need us.

This Saturday morning, our team provided Confined Space Rescue Standby services to support our client’s operations. Fortunately, the work was completed safely and no rescue was required—but that’s exactly how a successful standby should end.

A confined space rescue standby team is much more than simply being present on site. Before entry begins, our personnel review the confined space entry permit, perform a hazard assessment, verify atmospheric monitoring, inspect rescue equipment, establish communication with entrants and attendants, and develop a site-specific rescue plan. Throughout the operation, our trained rescue personnel remain fully equipped and ready to respond immediately should an emergency occur, minimizing response time when every second counts.

Safety is about preparation, training, and readiness—not reacting after an incident happens. We are proud to support our clients by helping them complete high-risk work safely and in compliance with OSHA confined space requirements.
