🌿 Plant Tip of the Week: Little John Dwarf Bottlebrush
Looking for a colorful, low-maintenance shrub that thrives in the Arizona sun?
Little John Dwarf Bottlebrush (Callistemon viminalis 'Little John') is one of my favorite choices for adding year-round color and texture without a lot of upkeep.
✔️ Medium green foliage that stays attractive all year
✔️ Bright red bottlebrush blooms that attract hummingbirds and pollinators
✔️ Excellent for borders, foundations, and pool landscapes
✔️ Handles full sun and Arizona heat with ease once established
✔️ Requires very little pruning to maintain its naturally compact shape
Design Tip: I like using Little John in repeating groups of three or five to create rhythm throughout a landscape. Its compact size makes it perfect for softening hardscape edges without blocking views or windows.
Mature Size: Approximately 2.5 ft. tall × 3 ft. wide
Sun: Full Sun ☀️
Water: Low to Moderate once established
A great landscape isn't just about choosing beautiful plants—it's about choosing the right plants for the right place.
See the vision before you build.
