We're proud to partner with Lake County Schools to help protect students through a new Stop Guard™ school bus stop-arm safety program.
Beginning this school year, the program will combine public education with automated stop-arm safety technology to help address one of the most dangerous driving behaviors for school commutes: illegally passing a stopped school bus. Drivers will first receive educational warnings before citations are issued, reinforcing that the program's goal is to increase awareness, encourage responsible driving, and protect students.
Meaningful school bus safety programs are built on strong partnerships. We appreciate the collaboration of Lake County Schools, the Lake County Sheriff's Office, and community leaders who share a commitment to creating safer roads for students, families, and school bus drivers.
Together, we're helping build safer streets by changing driver behavior, strengthening public awareness, and supporting safer transportation for everyone.
Lake County Public Schools is adding several cameras to the outside of its school buses in an effort to catch drivers who ignore those red stop sign warnings, which could lead to hefty fines
