Gilmore is dedicated to serving the needs of all customers with each and every commission. Since retiring as an Educator in January 2013, he is now able to concentrate on his love of painting and sculpture. His passion for art started as early as age 8, while herding sheep for his grandfather on the Navajo Indian Reservation. His canvas was a water tank using a sharp rock to create sketches of hor
ses, sheep, goats, birds, trucks and the local landscape. One day at the age of 11, while waiting at the hospital for his mother to be released, he was drawing (in pencil) a picture of a Navajo Man on horseback. A doctor stopped to see his drawing and offered to buy his sketch. From that moment on, he wanted to make his career as an artist. By mid 1970′s he was working full time as an artist, his dream had come true. However, with his second child, he decided to get a job that offered insurance for his family. His time was devoted to his family with little time to paint. Decades later all his children are raised and he is now retired from working as an Educator, his life has come full circle to pursue his deep passion for art. With every piece he makes, there is a story he will share with you and the all pieces he makes, seem have a spirit of their own.
