The IRS has granted relief to individuals and businesses affected by hurricane Ida who had filed valid extensions for their tax returns, giving them through January 3, 2022 to file those returns. See below:

If so, for tax years beginning in 2021, the total amount of unused balances of Dependent Care Assistance that can be excluded from taxable income has increased from $5,000 ($2,500 for married spouses filing separately) to $10,500 and $5,250, respectively.

Pandemic relief for 2021 also includes a temporary increase in the exclusion amount.
