We were called out to a French Quarter property two weeks ago that had multiple Formosan termite tunnels/breakouts on the interior. That led to installation of the Sentricon Termite Baiting System, which includes above ground (AG) stations that contain the HD bait. Termite supervisor Desmond Harrison installed nine AGs directly onto the breakouts. Given how heavy the infestation was, he went out to check the AGs today instead of the normal protocol of waiting 30 days until the first AG inspection to give the termites time to feed on the bait. What he found is remarkable: in just TWO WEEKS, the worker termites are gone in all the AGs, only the termite soldiers remain. This tells us that the colony is in severe distress and already collapsing, because the worker termites feed the colony, and if they are eliminated, the colony will starve. When Desmond goes back in two weeks, there likely will be NO termites left and colony elimination will have been achieved in only 30 days! Yet another illustration of why Sentricon is the only way to go when it comes to termite control.
