Excellent information regarding social media posts from our friends at Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office

Criminals are constantly looking for any information they can get their hands on!

While we are all encouraged by how social people have been on social media in this time of quarantine, please be careful about how much information you share about yourself. We've all seen tons of posts that have questionnaires that are all about "getting to know each other better" that ask you to name your first teacher, first pet, your mom's maiden name, your favorite ice cream flavor, or any number of crazy questions. The problem? These same types of questions are often used as security questions on your electronic accounts.

As fun as it seems to learn quirky little things about your friends and family, this may not be the best method. We always say that once it's on the internet, it's there forever. Avoiding these kinds of questionnaires, no matter how fun it is, is one more way you can protect yourself from identity theft.
