Make the ASK.

What’s the worst that happens?

They say no?

If they do, frame the NO as more information you will take into account in constructing a plan for how to move forward with confidence.

Resist the urge to frame a NO as ‘rejection’ or any version of a negative reflection on you, your vision, your business, or your goals.

Remaining in a state of inaction or paralysis, doesn’t move the ball forward.

Making the ASK, no matter the fears or sabotaging self talk that arises, does move the ball forward.

So… just do it.

Have the courage to go after the things you want.

Imaging how you FEEL when you get some of them.

It’s a beautiful thing. ✨

[And I’ll be here in spirit rooting for you! 🎉]

Mindset is EVERYTHING. 🚀

The ability to catch yourself in an unhelpful mindset… and then make a shift… is the map to get to where you want to go.

Textbook example — “it’s happening FOR me, not TO me”.

Consider the idea that the perceived ‘negative’ things that happen are actually ‘positive’ — because they are an opportunity to confirm the things you DON’T want.

Having clarity on what we DO NOT WANT, begins to create further clarity on what we DO WANT.

And it rewrites the chemistry of our bodies.

We begin to vibrate higher, and therefore ATTRACT the things we DO WANT.

This past weekend I had the good fortune of attending a talk with Esther Hicks of — who talks consistently about becoming a DELIBERATE CREATOR (love this term!).

She says “we feel the way we feel because of our THOUGHTS”.

Bingo.

The moment we change our perception… (see graphic above) 😃

I’m keeping this one in mind on the days that push me outside my comfort zone… and these days there are MANY.

Launching a new business means… taking risks, big commitment, trusting the process, and a lot of letting go [of how I thought things were supposed to go or should go].

It also means occasionally taking bites of humble pie, recognizing (and releasing) ego when it creeps in, and knowing with confidence — I didn’t come this far to only come this far.

So — together, on this beautiful day — let’s take a few deep breaths, close our eyes, call in clarity… and keep going.

We got this! 💥

In life, sometimes, you have to ‘fake it until you make it’ because PERCEPTION IS REALITY.

A conversation we think will be heavy and hard, turns out to be light and easy [and vice versa].

Someone makes a big deal out of what we think is a small issue.

Breakdowns happen.

It’s HOW we handle them that ultimately defines us — and informs other people’s perceptions of us.

One of my personal favorite mottos is — “who we are in the face of adversity is what defines us”. 🚀

It’s true.

Life [and business] can be REALLY HARD.

And when it is, it’s always an OPPORTUNITY to pause and ask ourselves, “Who am I showing up as right now? How can I share the version of myself that I most want other people to see?”. [and save the messy stuff for my confidants, mentors and friends].

Reflect on these two questions.

And then go BE IN ACTION.

Because perception IS reality. ☀️

Whenever I’m feeling mentally fried, exhausted, overwhelmed, or lacking focus… I generally tell myself to “take it to the mat” and I hit a power flow yoga class at

When I shared this with my wise instructor , he said “yes, but also leave it on the mat”.

Boom! 💥

He’s right. What’s the point of sweating it all out for an hour and then taking all the stress, worry and tension with me when I leave?

It’s pointless.

Bottom line: Do what you can to visualize leaving your concerns behind on the mat, next to the mat, or in that studio when you leave!

Pro tip: You don’t have to take a class to make this work for you… stand up from your desk, imagine you’re placing the feelings you want to release into an airtight box that you’re holding, now kiss the box and put it on a shelf (literally make the motion with your lips and hands/arms), and then step to the right… into the new feelings you want to generate in that moment (saying them out loud also helps!). Spread your arms wide up towards the sky and take three deep breaths. Drop your arms, shake them out and say “NEXT!”.

And move on with your day… 🚀

Let me know how it goes for you - or tell us about the things you do to shift your mental state in the comments… 🙏

Happy Friday! ☀️

You’re judging me right now and I’m judging you too. It’s not malicious. It’s human nature. ✨

Whether we like it or not, we are constantly being judged - and we are judging others.

In the business world and when we’re networking, much like dating, we determine whether we even LIKE someone within the first 5 minutes of meeting them.

If we LIKE them, we begin to assess the extent to which we feel we’ll come to KNOW - and TRUST - them… and therefore what caliper of client/contact we feel comfortable to refer to them.

Bottom line: we refer business to people who we KNOW, LIKE and TRUST.

Hot Tip: To build trust, consider these basic points…

- Was I on time to our 1st meeting?
- If I was running late, did I communicate?
- Did I dress professionally (as though this person, who I don’t know, may refer me the biggest client of my career)?
- Did I follow up in a reasonable timeframe (24-48hrs)?
- Did I listen intently to them (phones away)?
- Did I ask questions about how I might help them and their business?
- Did I smile and engage with a positive demeanor?

Above all, take some time in the weeks ahead to consider the ways you can ELEVATE your professional presentation in the world — especially when you’re meeting new people.

You never know WHO is going to connect you to your next great opportunity! Keep your eyes (and mind) wide open!

One of my favorite quotes…
“Chance is always powerful. Let your hook always be cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be fish.” — Ovid 🐠

Hospitality feels like a WARM HUG. ☀️

It’s also how you make someone FEEL.

Whether you have a product or service based business, there’s an answer to the question “How do you make your customers feel?”.

Are your customers turned ON or turned OFF? Something all owners should know.

In 1998, I had the good fortune of landing a server position at Union Square Cafe — a New York City-based restaurant owned by hospitality industry icon .

It was there that I learned what it means to be a 51%er (must read: Setting the Table). Someone who instinctively goes above and beyond to cater to the needs of clients. Someone who CARES about how they make people feel.

They are people with a high “hospitality quotient (HQ)” whose skills are 49% technical and 51% emotional.

A quote from Danny: “A 51er is somebody whose greatest pleasure in life is doing a job really well in a way that makes you feel good and that last part is not common to a lot of people.”

IOW, these people are not easy to find.

But with some finesse and discernment in the interviewing process, there are ways to increase the probability of finding them.

DM me to schedule a consult if you’re interested in learning more. 🍍🍍🍍

Here’s a GREAT MONEY MAKING IDEA — brought to you by — on how all entrepreneurs should start the day…

SECURE THE BAG !!! 💰💰💰

What does this mean?

At the start of each day, before coffee (ok ok, maybe just after coffee), before anything/everything else, do the things that MAKE YOU MONEY.

What does/can this look like?

Send invoices, follow up on outstanding AR, send notes to the prospects you want to hire you, ask for the business!

Anything that GETS THE MONEY flowing towards you.

Do that FIRST.

Secure the bag.

Boom!💥

Thanks Kendrick! 🙏

Sometimes what didn’t work out for you really worked out for you. 🙃🚀

Read that again.

It’s Monday beautiful people! ✨

New week. New opportunity to reframe the situations or circumstances in which we are making ourselves the victim.

I’m not saying tough stuff doesn’t happen. It does.

But it’s us who decide whether we get stuck in the vicious ‘victim’ mindset (holding us back) … or we rise into the ‘volunteer’ mindset (taking control of our choices and life, and therefore impacting what comes next and how we experience it !!).

What circumstance in your business - or life - can you reframe today?

DM me if you’re stuck and need a butt kick to breakthrough! 💥

You got this! And I got you.

Regarding fundraising and pitching, this is one of the BEST pieces of advice I’ve ever received:

S**U. 😃

Spelled out: Shut The F$&k Up.

Now that I’m advising others, I see the incredible value in this simple statement.

We’re human. We love to hear ourselves speak. We have so much to say. We want to get our points across. We want to ensure we’re being clear — and clearly understood.

But this is where the old adage holds true — LESS IS MORE.

When giving your pitch, get to the point.

Be succinct.

Allow for pregnant pauses.

Just when the pause starts to feel uncomfortable and you want to fill the silence, allow a few more seconds to pass.

This gives your prospective investors a chance to speak, reflect, and ask questions. After all, they’re human like you — so they like to hear themselves talk too. And getting questions is how you’ll learn and discern which edits to make to your pitch — ultimately leading to closed funding.

So remember — in business (and often life in general), mastering the ability to S**U leaves other people wanting more (of you) and it also creates space for you to attract (versus chase) the investment and/or partners you need.

+ Send a DM if you would like me to review your investor pitch! 🚀

HAPPY PITCHING! 💰💰💰

When in doubt, do nothing. ✨

Pause.

Take deep breaths and simply observe.

Look inward. Remember who you are. Ask yourself - who am I? Is this next choice evidence that my thinking, feelings and actions are aligned?

Pause.

Look outward. Peoples actions will show you who they are. Watch them carefully. Take it all in. Then choose powerfully. Is there someone to remove from your friend closet? Is there someone to add to your treasure chest of people who inspire and lift you up?

Take more deep breaths.

Continue to observe and do nothing.

Just for today.

Breathe it all in, breathe it all out.

Relax.

Just be.

You’re right where you’re supposed to be and it’s all happening (for you).

Happy Friday! ☀️

Two small words that made a big difference in my (business) life: GIVERS GAIN. 🍍

This is the simple philosophy of BNI (Business Network International) - one of the largest networking organizations in the world.

It’s also a mindset.

A mindset that ultimately makes you money.

When you walk into a meeting or networking event, it’s typical to think “what can I GAIN from all of these people?”. It’s not typical to think “what can I GIVE to all of these people?”.

Yet, this basic mental shift is what makes all the difference in ATTRACTING what you want - versus scavenging for you want.

You see, the “Givers Gain” motto does not always prove to create directly reciprocal results — in other words, it does not mean that if I give to Sally, Sally will definitely give to me.

But if I give to Ashley, Ashley may give to Micah, and Micah may give to me.

Put another way: What goes around comes around.

And it starts with asking the question… “How can I be of service?”✨

***

In the weeks ahead, I invite you to be mindful of your thinking and expectations (around receiving) on business networking calls or in meetings/events you attend.

Ask yourself, “How can I add the most VALUE to this other person? How can I GIVE MORE to these people?”

Please report back with your results! 💥
