Carol is one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. Her work combines inspirations from Japanese art, fiber art techniques, and ideas of intimacy to create intricate yet fun scenes on silk.

When she’s not displaying her work at international shows, you can find her hosting virtual “morning studio visits” on Reels and TikTok where she talks about her art process.

I’m so excited that I got to see her work in person! 🙌🏽

Hi! 👋🏽

I’m… “Thinking of You. I Mean Me. I Mean You.”

Say that 5 times really fast 😂 Anyways, that’s the name of the artwork I’m sitting in front of by one of my favorite artists, Barbara Kruger.

Back in August I had a chance to experience an epic room filled with her work at the . And as if that wasn’t cool enough, a few weeks later I was invited to be on a business podcast where I answer the funny question “is it true that most artists are starving?”

As you can imagine, I had a lot to say about that! 😂

I think Ettore Sottsass made a really good point! Did you know that people buy things with their emotions and later on justify their purchases with logic? 🤯

Right before we whip out our credit cards we envision our lives being better what we’re going to buy and we convince ourselves that we need the product. So, the more desire a product creates in our mind the more likely we are to buy it (think Apple products).⁠⁠ Crazy, right?!⁠⁠⁠⁠
So if you're selling ANYTHING, whether it's art, jewelry, clothing or any other products, think of how you can tap into your customers emotions with:⁠⁠

1. Visuals/the presentation of your products⁠.⁠⁠

2. The way you communicate with customers online/ how you talk about your products⁠.⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠

A long overdue shout out to my client/student for sending me this beautiful abstract painting during the peak of lockdown last year. Ever since then, this painting has been a backdrop for my Zoom meetings, what I gaze at when I'm thinking on my couch, and a reminder of why I'm here to teach, help, and support artists/creatives reach their full potential in their careers, businesses, and life.⁠⁠

When your goals are ridiculously big but you just keep going after them with a smile...⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠
Idk about you, but sometimes when I go after big projects I just get overwhelmed. With time I've learned that to achieve the things you want, you have to break things down, be patient, and keep track of your progress. Here are 3 things that have helped me get closer to my goals, maybe they'll help you too!⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠
1. Atomic Habits by James Clear - This book is all about understanding how to start good habits and get rid of old ones. I think that the more you understand your mind and habits, the easier it get to achieve anything.⁠⁠
⁠⁠.
2. Trello - This is one of my favorite apps/tools to make boards to keep track of projects, goals, and even trips. It's so much easier to visualize tasks broken down than having a huge to-do list.⁠⁠
⁠⁠.
3. A journal (or journal app)- Sounds simple but writing weekly and monthly recaps of what you've completed, achieved, and didn't achieve can help you see where to go next.⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠

Hey! Do you see that cat with a pop-tart body and a rainbow tail on my laptop? If you’ve been a bit out of the loop with internet culture, let me bring you up to speed…That’s Nyan Cat and an artist named Chris Torres () made a cute gif of it 10 years ago. But hold on, you might want to sit down for what I’m about to tell you… ⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠
The gif of this little pop-tart rainbow cat just sold at an online art auction for $590,000 (300 ETH). 😱Yes, crazy but super cool! If you’ve heard all kinds of news talking about NFTs (non-fungible tokens) this is the start of a new wave of digital art being sold online that’s purchased with cryptocurrencies (bitcoin, ether, etc.).

As you can see I have my glasses on and I’m nerding out trying to understand it all🤓… But if you’re an artist or creator, I’m curious to know what you think about selling digital art in this manner? Or if you have no idea about it, what would you like to learn?
