Gratitude is a must always and I take this time to reflect on the life I get to design. How abundant and rich my life is because of the people who fill it for a season or a lifetime.

The opportunities and moments that shape my experiences on this earth. I pray the moments I take it for granted, I am swiftly reminded how short sighted to do so. For nothing is owed to us but everything is within reach.

Always be grateful even for the lessons that sting, the times we are brought to tears, and moments too painful to share. There is light even in those times guiding us to our greatest revelation.

May God continue to reduce the noise, provide greater wisdom to filter thru the distractions and let the pursuit of love and service be the main plot of the story every time.

When I say this 2022 Black Professionals Summit owes me very little. I am filled with abundant gratitude. We had people for the first time come from over 8 different states. I don’t take people spending money on the org lightly. So for people to stop and say they were grateful they invested in themselves and enjoyed everything planned for them. That what they enjoyed the most was the energy of everyone attending, that it felt like people genuinely cared about them and wanted to support their goals. The speakers and sessions were well thought out and people really provided them a plan. Wow.

Planning 5+ events making sure not only attendees but speakers were able to make viable connections is not easy — doing 1 event is a hurdle. So I am fulfilled and so proud of my team, sponsors and everyone who genuinely just wanted us to see us win. I am grateful that I was able to pour into my community in this way. Listen, I had to get on the line with God and let him know that Nicole is messy and she needs to be escorted out. Next day…clear skies 🤣

Can’t wait for y’all to see the recap. Next up VMO Demo Day 😅

Greetings Folks!

The Paycheck Protection Program has been made available as of last night at 8pm by the SBA.

Up to $10 million, Paycheck Protection Program:
• The portion of your loan request that is used for payroll, mortgage interest payments, covered rent payments and utilities is 100% forgivable and not more than 25% of the forgiven amount may be for non-payroll cost. (the majority of what you are requesting should be to keep the same number of employees you had prior to COVID-19 disruption)
• 500 or fewer employees
• Fixed 4% for the non-forgiving portion, no collateral required
• No payment for the first 6 months to a year
This is a paper application and needs to have the OMB Control No: 3245-0407. (There are scammers so make sure!) You must fill out this application and MUST work with an SBA approved lender to receive the funds. You can locate the application here: https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/loans/coronavirus-relief-options/paycheck-protection-program-ppp

But what about the $10K Advance?
You can apply for the $10K Advance and the Paycheck Protection Program loan. The $10K advance is for any small business with less than 500 employees (including sole proprietorships, independent contractors and self-employed persons), private non-profit organizations or 501(c)(19) veterans organizations affected by COVID-19.

Funds will be made available within days of a successful application, and this loan will not have to be repaid. Lenders may begin processing loan applications as soon as April 3, 2020
To review all the different relief options by the Federal government, go here: https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/loans/coronavirus-relief-options

BUT IF YOU NEED MONEY NOW:
There are still state and private loan options if you need funds faster. Remember the government can be a little slow, so if you are in a real bind I recommend contacting credit unions, and any micro-lenders to get faster funds until the SBA ones are released. Then use those funds to pay it back.

SECURE HELP
Most importantly, if you are getting any of these funds. Secure two things or get a better relationship with a bookkeeper/accountant or CPA and a business coach. to make sure you are making the right decisions with the money and are tracking these dollars so you can comply with ALL the terms. Don't let 2021 come around and you are facing fines and have mounting debt.

For those who are not aware, besides the work I do with Black Professionals Network, I serve as a Business Development Consultant at the Minority Business Development Agency, a program under the U.S. Commerce and operated by FSMSDC. Should you need assistance in going over any of these options, you can schedule a session with a consultant in Orlando or Miami https://www.mbdamiamicenter.com/ or https://mbdaorlandocenter.com/

We’re here to help you overcome the challenges created by this health crisis. We offer multiple funding options for those seeking relief. Read more below.

- Voices with Jawan Strader! The Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Gala hosted by Royal Caribbean will take place on December 14. This year, I have the distinct and humble honor to be recognized as the recipient of the David A. Fincher Young Innovators Award. I joined the community legend and recipient of the The Distinguished Service Award Gepsie Metellus, the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Sant La with CEO of the Chamber, Eric Knowles to discuss what being selected within our categories meant to us. In short - grateful, still got work to do but thankful for acknowledging the work done thus far.
If you can, come out to the Gala, it’s top-tier networking and connections within the business community and you should start your 2020 with the right contacts.

I’m convinced the past leaves clues to the present on how to break historical patterns if we hold firm to the resolve to care enough to pay attention. Enjoyed the dialogue today at the between essayist, playwright and novelist Darryl Pinckney. We discussed in an ironic way to a white room his book “Busted and other essays” that chronicles black identity and experiences covering Dubois, Booker T. Washington, Barry Jenkins and Aretha. Darryl is a character and the conversation reminded me how important is for Black people to be free to express their individuality apart from the whole. @ Miami Dade College - Wolfson Campus
