EGPS would like to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month with honoring Director Orlando Muñoz. Orlando is the son of immigrants, his father from Chile, his mother from Cuba. He grew up in Miami in a home built on hard work: his father in building maintenance, his mother working her way up from wiping school cafeteria tables to the cafeteria manager during a 30-year career. That example of perseverance and hard work shaped him early.
Orlando spent years in law enforcement, serving in different capacities which included the problem-solving team, the motor unit, K-9 and SWAT before transitioning to EGPS in 2016.
At that time, the company had about a dozen employees, however he helped identify school security as an underserved niche. He led EGPS to become one of the first security companies in Florida to have officers certified as Guardians, coordinating the training for the first class of candidates within the state to be trained in time for the new school year. Since then, EGPS has continued to expand, not only within South Florida, but throughout the state.
This Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor the discipline, humility, and heart that helped build EGPS from the ground up.
