A payer panel being closed does not always mean every opportunity with that organization is unavailable.
Network availability may vary based on the provider’s specialty, geographic area, line of business, or specific health plan product. Before assuming there are no options, confirm exactly which panel is closed and ask whether the payer offers:
• A waitlist or future follow-up process
• Recruitment based on network need
• Another product or line of business
• An affiliated or alternate network pathway
While evaluating those possibilities, continue prioritizing payers with open enrollment opportunities and document every response for future follow-up.
Network participation is never guaranteed, but a strategic review can help providers avoid overlooking possible pathways.
